10 Theme Parks Beat Out Disney World and Universal As the BEST in America

Every year, USA Today asks its readers to pick their favorite theme park in the U.S.

Magic Kingdom

Now, you might expect that Disney World, Disneyland, Universal Orlando, or Universal Hollywood might make that list, but this year’s list excluded ALL of those parks. Instead, the top theme parks in the U.S., as voted on by USA Today readers, could surprise you.

If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!

So USA Today readers voted on their top theme parks, and only one Orlando theme park even cracked the top ten: SeaWorld Orlando, which came in at #3.  The Top 10 list does not include any Disney or Universal parks, which is a little surprising. The top theme park on the list is Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO, home to the world’s fastest, steepest, and tallest spinning roller coaster.

Rounding out the top three includes Knoebels in Elysburg, PA, at the #2 spot. This vintage theme park has free admission and still uses tickets to ride attractions.

  1. I live in Owensboro, KY just 25 minutes from Holiday World. To compare it to Disney World is a joke. Im not even sure what to say. It’s nice and all but my kids would laugh if I told them Holiday World ranked higher than Disney World. My daughter just visited Dolly wood on a school trip and she said it was nothing like Disney World and didn’t like it. Ive not been to many of those parks but even putting Holiday World on the same list as Disney World definitely makes me think these surveys are rigged. Its a total joke.
