By now you may have gathered that I enjoy stepping back in time and finding unique photos of Walt Disney World, or at least photos of attractions that are no longer around.

This is perhaps my favorite photograph of Epcot. It was taken in March 2003. Back then, it wasn’t unusual to see something unique or special around Innoventions Fountain. I fondly recall the orchestra conductor dressed in purple that would come out when Yanni’s song played and he would direct the fountains. This was back in the late 1990s. Alas, I have no photos of him. If you do, please let me know!

But one I do have is this man who I only saw the one time. I almost missed him as he was initially turned toward Spaceship Earth. He was moving his head side to side as if trying to figure out what he was looking at.

A few moments later he turned around – A Cave Man!!!! It was really a special moment. Glad I had my camera out!

  1. I would love to see a “current construction events” pic of the week such as the progress of construction at Downtown Disney/Disney Springs, demolition of the sorcerer’s hat or the expansion of the hub area at Magic Kingdom. Maybe even a sneak peak at what TCM is adding to the Great Movie Ride.

  2. Details. There is so much to see at WDW, it’s easy to miss the little details that make every part of every part so special!

  3. since I am in the frozen tundra for upstate New York, enduring freezing temperatures until probably mid April, , I would like to see some photos of the flower and shrubbery displays around Walt Disney World. The photos will hold us over, until our visit to WDW in mid May.

  4. We took some photos of various water fountains. We found many of them quite unique in following the theme where they were placed. I never thought that we would do that but it was a fun trip around the MK.

  5. I think it would be great to post pictures of the cast members in costume doing their best to make someone’s experience “magical”. Cast members don’t always love the costumes they are required to wear and sometimes guests are just plain difficult to be around. Maybe honor a cast member or group of cast members each month.

  6. First, Thank you to you, Scott and the entire Allears team for all the hard and long hrs of work that all of you put into this site!

~Love to see more Disney details (especially in new fantasyland)
~Info and pix about food, especially in world showcase.
    ~Ride photos!!

  7. I always get a shot of spaceship earth at sundown. It is usually a beautifully colored sky. My family loves Epcot almost as much as the magic kingdom. Keep up the good work, my family loves to see your pictures and articles.

  8. I would also like to see the “Old” Disney
Pics of people sitting in the front (with driver) of the monorail (I have one of my son and his friend)Club cool when it was an igloo, inside 20,000 Leagues, Journey into Imagination (orig) and wonderworks. PUSH, OFF KILTER, The candy lady at Japan pavilion The way I remember it growing up. Too many little touches are gone now.

  9. I love all of the sunset/nighttime photos. World Showcase is my favorite place to stroll in the evening.

Looking forward to Animal Kingdom nighttime photos.

Thanks for all you folks do.

  10. i always take a picture of sunset at Epcot from San Angel Cantina looking across the lake. I’d love to see sunset pictures at the parks.

  11. I love seeing pictures of previous attractions. I would love to see the Horizons Building, World of Motion, scenes from the original Journey Into Imagination.

  12. I love to see pics of people on their first visit, kids or adults. I have been so spoiled growing up with Disney while living in Central Florida that is always great to see someone else experience it for the first time!

  13. Everyone has given such great ideas! It would be neat to
See photos of the unique/interesting things such as
Epcots Club Cool, or the shops in the countries.
    Unique souvenirs.

  14. I love pictures like these! I would really enjoy seeing more throwback pictures like this one. Since Disney World rarely does random acts anymore, and I am too young to remember cool spontaneous interactions like these, seeing pictures is the best way for me to experience them. As everyone knows, a picture is worth a thousand words!

  15. Hi Deb,
I would love to see a photo of Tinkerbell
flying from the castle. I never have been able to capture this event.

DEB: I don’t think I’ve ever seen a really good photo of this. Anyone out there have one?

  16. I would love to see pictures of the main entrance garden and the garden at the entrance to the World Showcase taken each month of the year from the same spots to reflect how they change with events and sesons.

  17. You may just have a rare photo indeed! Not to mention the great composition. How about a look at the clothing styles of visitors throughout the years. More comfort and more skin! lol But also like your caveman would like to see pictures of past Disney street characters (all the little “what make Disney” extras are disappearing)

  18. How about pictures from a child’s point of view . The pictures can show what an attraction/parades or how Disney characters might look like from their perspective. I remember when I was little and how the parks and rides seems so big and main street lasted forever

  19. I’d like to see then & now photos of readers and allears staff. Ie, I have a picture of me when I was 12 taken on Main Street and then one at 45 with my kids. I love the retrospective shots!

  20. Food pics; quick service, sit down, snacks.

Celebrations of other “holidays” like Valentine’s Day, Marti Gras, Fourth of July…

    Water features around the parks.

Past exhibits/rides that are now “retired”

Love the photo blog and look forward to the pics every week. Glad you are looking for suggestions. YOu all do an excellent job with this site.

  21. I would love to see pics of the rides – how they have changed over the years along with the newest rides & even the ones that are no longer around. Also pics of the resorts & how they have changed since they opened – I would think the guest rooms have undergone the biggest changes. It would even be cool to have a series with Hidden Mickeys.

ALLEARS: We actually have a whole Hidden Mickey Blog that Steve Barrett does for us! http://land.allears.net/blogs/stevebarrett/

  22. I would love to see “Fan of the Week” or something similar. Either someone who is completely decorated in Disney or is just really having the time of their life. It would be fun to see the outfits or enthusiasm.

  23. I agree with resorts of the week – one of my favorite WDW pastimes is resort-hopping, so featuring some of the “you may have missed it if you haven’t stayed here” sights from the resorts would be great!

  24. My favorite pictures are ones of then and now. Pictures of a certain area, etc from the past and then what that area looks like now.

    Thanks!

  25. The photograph I always love the most is the castle! It is just the iconic Disney picture and I can still see our not so little girls anymore excitedly posing for their first picture there!

  26. I would love to see pictures from some of the different resorts, especially those details that make the individual resorts unique!

  27. Would love to see pictures of the small, overlooked items the photographers love that they find themselves returning to each time they go to the parks.

  28. I love the older picture as well. Those moments that cannot be recreated as something from the picture no longer exists.

  29. I love to see pictures of the characters enjoying the rides with guests:) Another fun thing to see is pictures of guests dressed up in costume during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (which would be seasonal, of course). I’ll never forget riding Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man…he took up the entire seat in front of me and my son, and that’s now one of our favorite memories!

  30. I would like to see the animals of disney world..maybe even a hall of biographies on the ones that work there and for pics around the world the wild ones that call disney home. .like the family of ducks

  31. I would love to see pictures from epcot world showcase and then with some adventure by disney /disney cruise line stops with shots from the same real locations. showing not only disney here but disney out in the world

  32. I’d love to see some pics of the opening of Soarin’! It’s my favorite ride at Epcot, and it would be so cool to see some pics from when it first opened in Orlando.

  33. I would love to see some shots of the cast members making a child’s day. I know we all have the shots of the characters doing so, but there are so many cat members that delight the children as well. I recall one time being at Epcot with my daughter, she was a little older, maybe 13 and wanted to go do something else. The cast member heard our conversation and knew that I had told her to meet me in that same spot in 10 minutes. The cast member waited as I was taking photos and before 10 minutes was up my daughter was back. The cast member cane over and gave her a pin for doing exactly what she was told, actually 2 with instructions to give the second one to a child she saw doing the right thing. To this day my daughter has that pin and did in fact find a child doing the right thing and presented the other. I just wish I had photographed the presenting of the pin both times. My daughter is now 21 and remembers this experience more than any others at the parks.

  34. I would love to see random pictures around World Showcase….little details inside each country that remind us of walking around there and taking it all in. Also posts of new things to look for.

  35. I like details along with the big picture. There’s so many memorable things all over WDW thst would be fun to see.

  36. One thing I’d like to see are photos of the same area in parks at different times of the year to show the crowd levels. Another would be photos from the same area over time showing the decorations changing from season to season.

  37. Since it’s Disneyland’s 60th, it would be nice to see a photo-retrospective of the park through the years.

    Thanks!

  38. I love seeing the pictures of children meeting characters or seeing their favorite Disney “icon” for the first time. I would love to see more pictures like that in 2015!

  39. I would love to see more photos of World Showcase at night. The structures are so gorgeous and no picture I’ve ever taken can capture it!

  40. I think I have a picture of Spaceship Earth with the wand somewhere but I would really have to look for it. I also have (somewhere) pictures from Walt Disney World from back in about 1986. Okay, now I’m going to have to look for them so I can send you some old pictures from way back when.

  41. How about doing pictures in every country or the little details that Disney has that we miss. Resort pics of the week is something I’d to see. Thanks for a great blog and photo tips!
