Disney Pic of the Week: On the Beach

Photographic Innoventions by Scott Thomas

There are lots of places at Walt Disney World to enjoy a beach but you can not go for a swim at any of them. If you go on a Disney Cruise to the Caribbean, you will stop at Castaway Cay where you can swim at one of two beaches. Castaway Beach is for families while Serenity Bay is for adults only.

  1. After having the opportunity to go to Castaway Key, I feel you captured the feeling one gets when arriving onto the beach in the morning. As usual, Disney has once again made for an over the top day of fun and relaxation here!

  2. What lovely composition, Scott. I especially like the row of the horizontal shadows balanced by the curves of the chairs, trees and water’s edge. Very pretty. But how did you manage to be the first one off the ship to get this shot before any of the chairs were claimed?!

Scott replies: This was taken during the Disney Dream Christening Cruise. The ship was barely 1/3 full and mostly media and travel agents. There were a few people on the beach behind me. The beach had fewer than 100 people the whole time I was there.

  3. I have to say that being at the beach first thing in the a.m. before most people are moving is the most peaceful experience. At doing it at Disney is amazing.
