The theme of this restaurant is really cool. I get that it's gimmicky, and that's what I like about it. Below is the review of the dishes we ordered:
Chocolate milkshake - Really good and included as part of the dining plan.
Smoked Turkey Sandwich - Good but nothing special. The cucumber salad it came with was refreshing and had good flavor.
New York Strip Steak with blue cheese butter - Surprisingly excellent! The blue cheese butter is what it made so amazing, great flavor!
Peanut butter chocolate cake - Excellent! I really enjoyed this one.

We went here last year and loved it. This year my daughter was still very happy. She loved the food and the atmosphere. Our waitress was not friendly and she was hard to find when we needed something.

Party of 5 (me, DD15, DD14, DS12, and DD10) dined here during Mardi Gras break for my DD14’s birthday. This is our favorite restaurant at WDW and we eat here on every visit. Had made reservations online months prior, but could only get 7:45pm reservation. We were starving at 5:30pm, so we stopped by to see if we could get in early. The CM said that a table would be ready in about 10 minutes, but it wasn’t the normal car with 3 rows of seating; it was a table with the seats facing each other (3 on one side/ 3 on the other side) with a car part at both ends of the table. I said this was fine and we would wait for it. I reminded them of my DD’s birthday and ordered a cake for dessert. We were seated promptly and the CM was extremely friendly. I reminded him also of my DD’s birthday and the cake. We all enjoyed our food. I had the turkey club with cucumber salad, 2 DDs had the build your own burger with fries, youngest DD had kid’s meal burger, and DS had kid’s meal chicken nuggets and a chocolate shake. CM was over-to-top... checked on us frequently, refilling drinks, and gave the 2 youngest kids driver’s licenses for finishing their meals. He gave the birthday girl a glow cube which she loved. He came to me as we were finishing the meal and quietly said he was sorry, but they were out of chocolate cakes. They had sent someone to Mama Melrose’s to get us a cake and it would be here shortly. The wait was a bit too long for the cake and the CM apologized several times, but it was ok because we were enjoying watching the silly movie reel. Finally the cake came and even put candles on it. We all sang happy birthday to her and the CM took a picture of our group with my camera. The cake was just under $20 and it was larger than I thought it would be. The 5 of us ate one half of the cake and he gave a go-box to take the rest back to hotel with us. Even though we have always loved sitting in the regular cars, this table worked out great for us, allowing us to celebrate the birthday more easily. The entire dining experience was wonderful and reinforced in me why we love Disney so much. They have always provided us with that extra bit of magic that we will always remember.

The atmosphere is why you eat here. Cheesy B - D movies on a large screen and the car tables. The kids love this play for that alone. Plus it gives you a chance to sit and relax for a while. My son loves the milk shakes for sure. While food is standard fare, its good and at a reasonable price. Nothing outlandish, so you can get a good meal with entertainment here for a reasonable price. We always stop by here when at the studios and now its basically a must eat location. One thing I ordered the cucumber salad as a choice for fries and was warned by our server about them. Take my advice pass on these. I did not want more fries so I took the chance. Besides that the hostess was great and we very much enjoyed it again.

This was my husband's favorite restaurant after our 2003 trip and we had a couple meals after that, that were just not as good. Until this trip! My daughter loves the car and be able to watch the movie while she eats, which give me and the hubby some time to talk. Milkshakes are delicious, they have never disappointed us. The couple times we went that it was just ok, the concept and milkshakes brought us back anyway. We both got burgers with sweet potato fries and were back to being impressed like out first trip. My daughter finished her meal to but I can't recall what she had. I don't like how the bathroom is kind of hidden, made me nervous letting my daughter go alone which meant climbing out of a booth like car multiple times for a bathroom trip.

Loved the concept of the drive-in, and we liked the short movie promos and clips. The menu isn't anything special, but what we got was good--the turkey sandwich was fresh, and the buffalo chicken was good. It's fun to do once!
Pros:
Fun experience, decent food, great serviceCons:
Somewhat limited menu (but that's being picky)Reviewed by lizzie1974 Review Date: 02/08/2013

We ate here on Feb 3rd. My 7 year old specifically requested it so I agree. We had eaten here 2 years ago. Not much has changed since then. It's dark and people do not feel encouraged to talk during the meal. Honestly, you could take a nap in there.
Our waitress was functional. We had another couple seated behind us in a 3 row car. Our orders were taken at the same time but their food came out 10 minutes earlier than ours. Pretty weird.
The picnic burger was pretty good. My husband & I actually split that. The cherry coke was very good. They mix the syrup there so it isn't sickenly sweet like the canned cherry coke.
I agree with another post here that the movie loop is too short. It's maybe 40-45 minutes. Why don't they actually show a campy 50's movie?? That would be fun.

DH, DS12 and I ate at Sci-Fi for a dinner ADR in late November. The atmosphere was really, really fun! The old movie clips were wonderful and the whole "Drive-In" concept was so cool. We had a car to ourselves, with our son in the "Driver's Seat".
The service was over-the-top good! Our "Car-Hop" waitress was very helpful and friendly. She gave our son a "Driver's License" at the end of the meal that he really enjoyed.
The food was just okay. Nothing stellar. The milkshakes were awesome, but the burgers were just your standard QS fare. DH had the chicken pasta, which he thought was delicious.
Overall, I would definitely do this place at least once, just for the ambiance and service, but not the food 🙂

We dined here for dinner in January. We were seated just a few minutes after our ADR and service was good throughout the meal.
The theming was so fun! My sister and I sat at the back of a car behind another group, which was not as odd or awkward as I thought it might be based on previous reviews. Watching the movie clips was fun! During dinner we saw one whole loop and a few repeats, but that was nice because we missed a few during ordering, settling in, ect.
We were told that we could get milkshakes for our drinks on the dining plan. I had oreo and my sister had the orange creamsicle, they were easily the highlight of the meal-so good!!
For dinner, my sister had the veggie burger and I had the turkey sandwich...both of us thought our meals were only so-so. Not bad, but certainly nothing worth returning for. We enjoyed being able to order fruit salad for dessert since we had the milkshake with dinner-another sweet dessert would have been too much! The fruit was fresh and very good.
I would return here, but would not use the dining plan for dinner. I think it would be worth coming in just for a milkshake and to share an appetizer-we did not order any but they all looked good!

Hadn't eaten here in several years. Previous visits had left me disappointed with food. Since the menu had changed over the years I thought I'd give it another try. The theming is still the best part. I recommend people walk in to check out decor, but eat elsewhere. The burger and reuben were just okay, as was milkshake. The chicken wing app is outrageously priced even by Disney standards...$11.49 for 6 wings. (Kona Cafe wings are much better and cheaper.) This restaurant is so dark you honestly can't even see your food, which is a bit disconcerting. Waitress did her job (a tad slowly), but couldn't be described as friendly. The video loop should be longer because we were well into repeats by the time we were done.
