As of today, April 13th, construction has begun to completely overhaul the Wilderness Lodge boat dock, meaning that from now through late July, boat transportation won’t be available at the hotel.

That’s not all, though, because now it’s been announced that the boat dock at ANOTHER hotel will also be unavailable for a few months starting in May. Yep, if you’re staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, this is a closure you need to know about, because it WILL affect your vacation.
Disney has revealed that from May 11th through late June 2026, the boat dock at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will undergo routine maintenance. The dock will be closed, and boat transportation will be suspended from May 11th to June 5th.

Fortunately, this isn’t the only way to get to Magic Kingdom from this hotel, as you can also take the Monorail. However, with this closure, there will no longer be more than one option for transportation (unless Disney adds buses to Magic Kingdom, which remains to be seen — we’ll keep an eye out when the closure happens!), meaning that Monorail crowds will likely be more intense than usual.

Looking at the dock currently, it looks fine to our eyes, but obviously, Disney has noticed that something needs to be fixed, or that it needs to undergo routine maintenance to keep it safe for Cast Members and guests.

Yes, this means ANOTHER part of Disney World will be under construction when there’s already so many parts of the hotels and parks that are behind walls or unavailable at this time. It’s all to make the experience better for guests in the future, but for the time being, so many closures make things a little rough right now.
