Disney World is full of construction projects right now, and it’s not just the parks — it’s the hotels too!

It was recently announced that a transportation port at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge would undergo a pretty big refurbishment. Though the boat dock has been under construction for a few months, now the entire thing is closed for the next few weeks, and it looks like parts of the ENTIRE dock are being replaced.
Today, April 13th, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge closed its Boat Launch Dock from now through May 1st. If this sounds familiar, it’s because the boat docks were also closed earlier this year for refurbishment, but it didn’t take them long to reopen. Although the dock reopens in May, construction isn’t set to be complete until late July 2026.

This is a pretty big deal for this hotel, though, as there are only two transportation options to Magic Kingdom from this hotel — the boat dock is one, and the buses are the other. With the boats closed for some time now, the buses are bound to be more crowded, so you’ll want to allow more time than usual.

From what we could see today, it looks like workers are replacing the entire walkway heading towards the end of the dock. We saw posts being carried out as well as new planks, so it really does seem like there’s a lot of work to be done, and it makes sense to us why it’ll take until July to complete.

If you’re staying at this hotel soon, we recommend allowing more time for transportation as a whole, as we’re sure there will be confusion for a little while and more intense crowds, no matter where you’re heading. We’ll be sure to keep a close eye on the progress and keep you updated every step of the way!
