The Cake Bake Shop at Disney’s BoardWalk is one of the most expensive dessert spots on property, even if you’re just heading into the bakery (instead of dining in the restaurant, which is also expensive, don’t get us wrong, but there are MORE expensive spots on property). However, do we keep going back because it often leaves us wanting more? YES.

We’ve been hitting this spot more frequently lately, as they keep releasing new menu items we just can’t miss (like those new chicken tenders inside the restaurant? HOLY MOLY, we still can’t get them out of our heads), so yes, we’re back AGAIN to try two more desserts from the bakery. We’ve gotta admit, though, both of these took us a little by surprise!
First up was the Mixed Berry Cheesecake Cup for $15. This is Graham cracker European all-butter crust, Cake Bake’s homemade cheesecake, piled high with fresh, glazed blackberries, blueberries, and raspberries.

Well, if you’re a big fan of fluffy cheesecake, so much so that it’s almost the texture of whipped cream, then this will be a big hit for you. However, if that texture isn’t something you’re fond of, perhaps if you prefer a more jiggly cheesecake, this might throw you off. We were impressed by how light it was, considering it really was more like the texture of whipped cream rather than a mousse, but when it came to the raspberries, blackberries, and blueberries, we weren’t blown away. They didn’t taste overly fresh, more like they just came from the grocery store, and while that isn’t a bad thing (hey, we love grocery store berries), when you’re paying $15 for a treat, you may find yourself wanting something a bit more elevated.

We did enjoy the tartness paired with the sweetness from the cheesecake, as neither one overpowered the other, but we ultimately think this will be a bit divisive due to that texture — some may love it, and others may shy away!

We also grabbed a slice of the Carrot Cake for $22. This is spiced carrot cake made without nuts or raisins, filled and frosted with Cake Bake’s signature cream cheese frosting, and topped with decorative silk flowers.

This carrot cake was different than what we were expecting, as with most carrot cakes, you can taste the carrot pieces inside of it. For some people, this causes some textural issues, and if that’s the case, this cake is for you! The carrot pieces in here were extremely fine and few and far between, making the texture of the cake smooth and very soft. However, if that’s something you prefer in carrot cakes, you may find yourself disappointed.

The spiced part of the carrot cake seemed to overpower the actual carrot flavor a bit, as we almost got more of a pumpkin/brown sugar taste to the cake, and the carrot didn’t come through as strong. Again, this will be your personal preference that decides whether you’re a fan of this or not! Now, we do have to say that the cream cheese frosting was fantastic, as we normally find it to be at Cake Bake. It was fluffy, perfectly thick without being overpowering, and it’s not too runny OR too stiff. In fact, we had someone walk past our table, ask if we were eating the carrot cake, and when we said yes, said they just had it in the restaurant and were still raving about it!
