REVIEW: This Disney World Hotel Restaurant Keeps Getting Better and Better

It’s shocking how many places there are to dine at around Disney World!

Animal Kingdom Lodge

Whenever we hear about new menu items at Disney World, it’s like the bat signal is calling us to get more food, and we’re always answering the call. We recently went to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to try new food at Sanaa, and we have to share our thoughts with you!

If you’ve never heard of Sanna before, it’s a restaurant located at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, specifically in Kidani Village. It offers African and Indian-inspired dishes for a nice, casual dining experience. What’s even more of a draw here than the food is the views of the animals that roam the Sunset Savanna before you.

The dining spot recently dropped some new menu items, and we were excited to try them out! The first thing we grabbed was the Lamb Kefta Naanwich for $22.00 , which is made with seasonal ground lamb topped with pickled onions and fresh herbs on onion kulcha and mango chutney, cucumber raita, and red chile sambal. It was a spicy, yet delicious and balanced sandwich. The naan was so tender and perfectly chewy, and it was the ideal bread for this sandwich, as it lets the rest of the ingredients shine while holding everything together.

All the bread is house-made for the sandwiches, and the lamb is perfectly cooked, so tender to the bite and incredibly well-spiced. Then, there are some pickled onions that add a little bit of pickle flavor to the dish. It is very welcome as it cuts the richness and spice of the lamb. The arugula greens melt in with the sandwich and add a peppery finish.

This is delicious!

This is an incredible sandwich! We added some of the cucumber raita that came with it, and it created a cooling effect. The chips that come with it look like tortilla chips, but they’re actually naan chips, and they are the perfect vehicle for the sauces that came with it — the cucumber raita, red chile sambal, and peach chutney. The red sambal is the spiciest of the sauces. The peach chile has a small but pleasant burn, and the cucumber raita is the perfect way to cool everything down with herbaceous yogurt.

We’d get this again!

Next, we had the Tandoori-spiced Chicken Sandwich for $21.00 , which features tandoori-spiced chicken in warm naan with preserved lemon crema, sweet peppers, house-made pickles, and fresh coriander. The server warned us that this was gonna be a spicy sandwich, but we think it is absolutely perfectly balanced. The chicken was very juicy and flavorful. The lemon crema that is on top, with the herbs, adds this very cool sensation with the citrus flavor on the back end. It’s so creamy and delicious! The arugula on top of that adds a little pepper on the back end. Every bite of this sandwich is genuinely delicious.

The house-made cut chips, on the other hand, are well-spiced, and we found ourselves borrowing from another entrée at the table to dip in tzatziki. We thought it needed something to dip in, and the tzatziki is so cool with the cucumbers, the herbs, and the sour cream flavor, that it’s hard to resist dipping the chips in the cucumber raita.

This was tasty!

For dessert, we grabbed the Crowned Crane Black Sesame Entremet for $11.00. This dessert is made with black sesame mousse, chai tea caramel, ras el hanout pineapple, and raspberry.

Crowned Crane Black Sesame Entremet

Our favorite bite is the freeze-dried raspberry with salted caramel, as the crunch breaks up the creaminess of the entreme. It also provides pops of flavor from the raspberry that are tart and balanced with the sweetness of the caramel. This may not be a dessert for everyone, as it is a little bit adventurous. If you have a palate where you are familiar with the taste of black sesame, then you’ll love this, but picky eaters may not like the texture or flavors of this dish.

It’s good, but unique!
