Disney World Crowds Are NO JOKE This Weekend

We’re in the middle of runDisney marathon weekend, and it has resulted in a busy morning at EPCOT today!

Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend started on January 7th and will last through January 11th. The races begin super early in the morning and go throughout the day. Runners make their way through the park, which usually makes for a crowded morning. Let’s take a look at how EPCOT held up!

EPCOT opened a little later than normal because of the race, opening at 10 AM. We got in line to get into the park a few minutes before 10, and the crowds at the front gates were PACKED.

When we got to EPCOT this morning, we were rerouted to the Cast Member entrance because of the marathon. The roads were extremely busy (as expected), with a bunch of roads being closed this weekend. They weren’t using the rideshare drop-off area this morning, and some were getting rerouted to the bus depot.

For all marathons, it may take you longer than usual to get to whatever park you’re headed to, so make sure to give yourself time! This could be because of road closures and alternate routes you may need to take.

We also think buying Lightning Lane may be a great way to maximize your day. You might be able to get more done, or possibly guarantee you do everything you want to do.

If spending that extra money isn’t something you want to do, keep paying attention to wait times on the My Disney Experience app. Also, making any dining reservations as soon as possible, as walk-up waitlists may be harder to get.

You also may wait longer at stands without Mobile Order. We saw a long line sticking out of Kringla Bakeri in the Norway Pavilion!
