For decades, Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts has reigned supreme — but its era as the top dog of Disney World pools could be threatened very soon.

This 750,000-gallon “beachside wonderland that offers 3 acres of aquatic fun” is known for being sand-bottomed, having a fun lazy river, offering a life-size shipwreck replica, and boasting one of the highest hotel waterslides at Disney World. So, yeah — it’s no surprise that Stormalong Bay is the most popular hotel pool in all of Disney World. Taking the top spot as the best Disney World hotel pool will not be an easy task for any prospective challengers, but one new Disney World hotel is going to make a run at the title.
Let’s talk about Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge…and whether it might just have what it takes to dethrone the king.

It takes something special to unseat a pool so popular that people book stays at the Yacht and Beach Club Resorts for the pool alone. Thinking another people could be better feels borderline blasphemous.

However, we’ve been getting some aerial views of Lakeshore Lodge’s pool construction, and we’re starting to have some thoughts…

Disney World’s newest hotel project is coming together quickly and will sit along the shores of Bay Lake between Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge when it’s all said and done.
The resort will be nature-centered and blend lodge-style architecture with waterfront relaxation. While we’re excited about all the special offerings (and incredible views) that will be available at Lakeshore Lodge, the pool is shaping up to be something special.

Disney hasn’t spilled every detail yet, but we’re expecting a large central pool with panoramic lake views and a more relaxed, retreat-style theming. So far, the main pool and the lazy river are really coming together in the central courtyard. The curved paths of the lazy river look fairly pronounced, and the main pool seems like it will offer some wider swim zones (like Stormalong Bay), as well as views of the surrounding landscaped areas.
We’re awaiting more specifics, but so far, the pool area looks like it’ll be pretty impressive.

In the recent update, we also noticed a secondary pool located near the edge of the property. This area could give guests some peaceful isolation.

Additionally, docks are being added to the resort’s waterfront and could pair with the pool and waterfront experience to create a cohesive themed experience.

An officially announced opening date for the resort has yet to be announced, but you can bet your bottom dollar we’ll be following closely — especially if the pool turns out to be as phenomenal as we’re hoping.
For now, it’s way too early to dethrone the king. It’s going to take something extra special to replace Stormalong Bay as #1. Time will tell what this new Lakeshore Lodge pool brings to the table.

We’ll be monitoring all the latest Lakeshor Lodge developments as well as keeping up with all the latest Disney World hotel updates, so keep it posted right here at AllEars to stay in the know!
