Coronado Springs

As a new year is approaching, we’re busy planning our dream Disney World vacation from hotels to snacks to every ride possible! There are a lot of changes on the horizon, and some of them have us a little concerned. Others, like this recent hotel change, are making our next trip even easier! Let’s dive into what you need to know.

There are lots of nice things about Disney World in 2026! New attractions are on the way, we’re expecting big announcements, and booking at Disney’s Caribbean Beach ResortDisney’s Coronado Springs ResortDisney’s Port Orleans Resort—French Quarter, and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—Riverside just got easier in one subtle way.

Caribbean Beach Resort

When it comes to booking your hotel room at Disney World, there are a lot of factors that go into that decision. Disney offers several tiers of resorts based on budget and needs. They’re the Value Resorts, Moderate Resorts, and Deluxe Resorts. No matter what tier you choose for your vacation, once you’ve chosen your preferred hotel, it’s time to choose what kind of room you want. (This is where the change comes in!)

In the past, you’ve had categories for rooms like standard room, preferred room, preferred pool view, fireworks view, garden view, and several others. While we did enjoy the choices, it was a little overwhelming to say the least, especially if you were booking your first trip. Now, the categories are just Standard Room, Preferred Room, or a room with a king bed. Some Disney Moderate Resorts will continue to offer additional categories like the “Royal Guest Room” category at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—Riverside.

The change, ideally, is going to streamline the booking process and remove any confusion based on the categories. It should also cut down on the number of special requests made based on accommodations in the moderate rooms. This is also a big reminder to read carefully when you’re booking for your 2026 vacation! If you’ve booked a room in the past, things might look a little different from how you remember, so reading carefully is going to be important with this switch.
