Why You Should Book Your Disney World Trip For Summer 2026

Are you already dreaming about your 2026 vacation? Yeah, we are too! The year hasn’t even started, and we’re already in need of a break, specifically in Disney World.

Disney World is going through a lot of changes right now, which can lead some people to want to skip the resort in 2026. While that might be true, there are several reasons that Summer 2026 is the BEST time to go to Disney World! 

If you didn’t know, there is a lot happening at Disney in 2026. It can feel like it’s just Wall Disney World right now, thanks to the overwhelming construction across the resort. Luckily, though,  there’s a lot coming that makes Summer 2026 the time to be there. Starting off strong, Cool Kid Summer is returning!

In 2025, Disney introduced Cool Kid Summer, which added lots of limited-time entertainment, character meet and greets, and activities across the parks. It made the parks feel so alive and colorful thanks to the dance parties and surprise character hugs.

Last summer ran from May 27th, 2025, until September 1st, 2025, so we’re anticipating similar dates in 2026. Next up, a popular Hollywood Studios attraction is getting NEW updates! 

On May 22nd, 2026, Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run is getting brand new destinations! In addition to new spots, for the first time ever, the engineer will be the one to actually pick where you want to go. The engineer has typically been the most… underwhelming role on the attraction, so this is a major upgrade.

The new upgrades will feature storylines and characters like the Mandalorian, Grogu, and Hondo. Who doesn’t want more Baby Yoda?! He might be the thing we’re looking most forward to this summer!

Hollywood Studios is the home of lots of excitement because Summer 2026 is also going to be VERY Muppety. In Summer 2026, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster starring The Muppets is expected to take center stage, literally!

The popular attraction, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, is getting a major overhaul. Aerosmith is packing up its bags and is expected to vacate the ride in Spring 2026, before the Muppets move in. The ride’s new story is that The Electric Mayhem are headlining their biggest Hollywood concert ever. Animal, Dr. Teeth, and the rest of the group are getting ready to rock…but nobody can find them! Riders will be treated to a VIP tour of the legendary G-Force Records studio, which is under new management.

Friends from Muppet Labs and a fast limo will  “take a twisting, turning, and screamingly fun road trip across Hollywood to reach the concert in time” throughout the ride. The new ride will include new animatronics, new music, and more! Disney hasn’t shared exactly what we’ll be listening to in Summer 2026, but we’re eager to rock out.

Over in EPCOT, Summer 2026 is bringing us to new locations thanks to Soarin’ Across America! This new version of the classic attraction will focus entirely on U.S. locations, blending natural wonders and city skylines with the ride’s signature score, scents, and gliding motions.

Disney confirmed that the updated film is part of the broader “Disney Celebrates America” initiative, a company-wide tribute to the nation’s 250th anniversary. Soarin’ Across America debuts on July 2nd, 2026, in EPCOT.

Finally, a Disney hotel perk is returning in Summer 2026 that we love! Disney resort guests will receive Free Water Park Admission on the day they check in to their resort.

On the day you check in, you can head to whichever Disney World water park is open to splash the day away. In 2025, this perk was available all year long, but in 2026, it’s only available during the summer. This perk is a great way to kick off your trip without spending extra cash. We’re early travelers here, so we love this perk.
