NEWS: Months-Long POOL CLOSURE Revealed for a Disney World Hotel

One of the most important stages in the Disney World planning process is checking the refurbishment calendar, as the Resort is always changing.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Construction and refurbishments are fairly common at Disney World hotels, including pool closures from time to time. In fact, Disney revealed a lengthy pool closure coming to one of its most popular resort hotels.

Per the official Disney World website, the Bay Cove Pool at Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be closed for nearly the first half of 2026.

Located at the Bay Lake Tower, the Bay Cove Pool, the water play area, and the whirlpool spa will be closed from January 26th, 2026 to early May 2026 for maintenance.

The Bay Lake Pool (which is heated), its water play area, and its whirlpool spa at the resort will remain open for guests during this time, so swimming and lounging offerings will still be available.

The Bay Cove Pool isn’t the only pool getting a 2026 closure for maintenance at Disney World. Disney also announced that from January 2026 until late April 2026, the Surfboard Bay Pool and the kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort will be closed for maintenance.

As is the case with the Contemporary Resort still offering alternative pool options, not every pool option will be closed at the All-Star Sports resort during this refurbishment window.

The Grand Slam Leisure Pool will remain open, as will the other pools throughout Disney’s All-Star Resorts. Offerings include the Calypso Pool, Piano Pool, and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, and the Fantasia Pool, Duck Pond Pool, and kiddie pool at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort.

Keep in mind that construction noises may be prevalent during the day and you’ll likely be able to see construction workers during these hours. However, during our years covering the Disney Resorts, we have noticed that Disney does do a decent job keeping disruptions to a minimum so we hope that trend keeps up.
