It’s finally here!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom has officially opened to the masses! We’ve had a chance to ride it already and we’re so excited for you to get a ride in! Thinking about that, we’re sure at least a couple of you thought, “But I’ve got young kiddos. How will I be able to ride it?” Thank you for asking! Let’s go over a Disney World trick that could be your key to riding Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!
As we said, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom has officially opened, so if you’re headed to Disney World with small children AND you’d like to hop on Tiana’s new ride, but they may not be able to ride just yet, you’re going to want to take advantage of Disney’s Rider Switch.

“What is Rider Switch?” I hear you asking. Great question. Walt Disney World’s Rider Switch program is a system that helps parties enjoy attractions even if some members of the group don’t wish to or can not ride. A typical example of this is families with children who do not meet height requirements on certain rides, but truth be told, Rider Switch can be used in any situation where a guest of any age doesn’t want to get on a ride that uses Rider Switch but is with other members who want to do.

How To Use Rider Switch:
It’s pretty straightforward, but let’s go over the rules as listed on Disney’s site:
1. First, check with a Cast Member to see if Rider Switch is offered at the attraction in question.
2. Once at the attraction, approach the greeting Cast Member with your entire party. At least one adult member of your party and the Guests who are not riding will be issued a Ride Switch entitlement by the Cast Member and asked to wait in a designated area (usually outside of the attraction). This group is “Party 2.”
3. The other party members (“Party 1”) ride the attraction.
4. After riding the attraction, Party 1 locates Party 2. Then, Party 1 takes over the supervision of the non-riding children or Guests.
5. Party 2 enters and boards the attraction without having to wait in the regular queue a second time. (The Rider Switch entitlement must be validated by a Cast Member at this time.)
(Please note that if the person in Party 2 waited alone with the child or non-riding Guest, one Guest may join the person who waited alone.)

Make sure you’re checking in with the site or the app to find all the locations of Rider Switch across the parks.

At the moment, there are only two ways to get on the attraction — by using Virtual Queue or through Genie+ (soon to be Lightning Lane Multi Pass). To use Rider Switch, you’ll need to acquire one of those before heading to the attraction — you will NOT be allowed to walk up since there is no standby queue yet.
If you’re looking to go the “free” route, you’ll have to dive into the Virtual Queue route. You only get two chances to join the Virtual Queue — 7AM and 1PM. Also, you can only hold one Virtual Queue per day. Here’s our guide on the Virtual Queue process for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
