We’re about to make a very controversial statement, but we often prefer Disney’s value resorts over Disney’s deluxe resorts.

Okay, before we get into it, though, hear us out. So we’re comparing Disney’s Pop Century Resort, which is a value resort to Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and well, we’ve decided we’d probably choose Pop Century every time. But why?
Price
Okay, so the BIGGEST reason we’d choose Pop Century over Wilderness Lodge is the price. Room rates for Pop Century can run as low as $174 per night. By comparison, a room at Wilderness Lodge — at its lowest — is $550 per night. That’s a BIG difference — imagine all the souvenirs the extra savings could buy.

Not only that, though, Pop Century’s lower price means we can afford a LONGER stay in Disney World, and when you look at it that way, it really is an easy decision to make. We’ll always take more time in Disney World.
Skyliner
Location is everything, and Pop Century is located next to a Skyliner station, which means it’s SO easy to get to Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. That also means you have easy access to every other hotel on the Skyliner line, so if you want to go grab a meal at Disney’s Riviera Resort or hop on over to BoardWalk Inn for a spell, you can do so quickly and efficiently.

You have buses and boats at Wilderness Lodge, and that’s it. So if you want to have quick and easy access to other hotels and two parks, a Skyliner resort is always a good bet.
We just need a place to sleep
Okay, so we’re not “spend all our time at the resort” kind of people. We’re “spend as much time in the parks” people, for the most part. That means that we aren’t spending a lot of time in our hotel rooms. Why pay so much more for a hotel that’s only a place to sleep?

We’ll tell you this, too. Pop Century’s beds are just as comfortable at the end of a long day as the beds at Wilderness Lodge. Just give us a place to rest our heads and we’re good.
Theming
Now, don’t get us wrong, the nature theme of Wilderness Lodge is GORGEOUS, but if it’s over-the-top pop culture and Disney theming that makes you (or your kids) more excited, Pop Century is IT. You’ve got giant Yo-Yos and Rubik’s cubes, figures of your favorite Disney characters, and more.

If you’re looking for something that SCREAMS theming, Pop Century is where you’ll want to stay. Even the rooms have cute artwork of Disney characters above the beds.
So if you have a decision to make and you’re torn between these two resorts, give Pop Century another look because depending on your priorities, it might be EXACTLY what you’re looking for.
