FastPass+ was officially discontinued in Disney World and replaced with two new paid ways to “skip the line” at popular attractions in the park this fall.

Known as Disney Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selection, these services can now be found in both Disney World and Disneyland. But, the rollout hasn’t been without some technical difficulties. On its first day in Disneyland Resort, guests were unable to make Lightning Lane reservations for most of the day, and, today there appears to have been a glitch in the My Disney Experience app for guests trying to book Individual Attraction Selections in Disney World.
As a quick refresher, Individual Attraction Selections are available at eight total rides throughout the four Disney World parks. These are what you might think of as the “Fancy Rides” in the parks or the ones that are in higher demand. So, instead of being included in the purchase of Disney Genie+, they are an additional cost (though you do NOT need to purchase Genie+ to reserve them).

While most guests cannot purchase their 1-hour Lightning Lane return window until the park opens, guests staying at Disney World Resort hotels have early access to them beginning at 7AM. But, this morning, the My Disney Experience app was notifying guests that Individual Lightning Lanes were unavailable for purchase, according to Scott Gustin on Twitter (@ScottGustin).

We later received a notification through our My Disney Experience app around 9:15AM stating that “All Individual Lightning Lane sales are planned to resume around 9:30AM.”

All Lightning Lane sales seem to be back in the app now, but guests staying at Disney World hotels had less of an advantage in securing their return windows early depending on which park they’re visiting today. Of course, we’ll continue to keep an eye out for further updates, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for the latest!

Purchasing LL for the fancy rides was a nightmare both times I did it during the week of Thanksgiving (Remy & Rise). It worked out in the end (and saved a poor CM the wrath I was going to unleash), but mixing Disney magic and glitchy technology was an absolutely terrible idea.
