There’s a new dining option at California Grill in Disney’s Contemporary Resort!

As of today,The Wave…of American Flavorshas closed in the hotel as Disney re-imagines the restaurant before it reopens for the Walt Disney World 50th Anniversary. But, luckily we don’t have to go without the signature breakfast while it’s closed! California Grill is now serving the entire menu from The Wave, so we stopped by to check it out!
Atmosphere
If you’re not familiar, the entrance to California Grill is located on the second floor of the resort and now you can find a new sign near the check-in area.

When we first arrived, we checked in through the My Disney Experience app (which is what most restaurants in Disney World are currently accepting)…

…and, once our table was ready, we were led to the private elevators that take guests up to the restaurant! It was a solo ride for us because Disney is currently only allowing one party in the elevator at a time and Cast Members are not accompanying guests.

But, you’ll still be guided the entire way! Once the doors open on the top floor a Cast Member was waiting to greet us.

The restaurant has previously only been open for dinner, so this was our first time in a while seeing the morning sunshine from inside the restaurant.

In the main dining area tables still remain pretty spread out…

…and there are plastic barriers between booths.

We were led to our table by a Cast Member and then it was time to eat!
Menu
Most Disney World restaurants have eliminated their paper menus and moved to virtual ones, and that was the same at California Grill. All you need to do to pull it up now is hover your camera over the QR code and pull up the link to the menu.

And, you’ll find that all of the options are identical to what was being served at The Wave! There are three appetizer options…

…and NINE different entree selections including Omelettes, The Wave Feast, Wave Signature Sweet Potato Pancakes, Avacado Toast, and more.

Of course, there are also a few kids’ menu selections including Oatmeal and Dried Cranberries, Mickey Waffles with Butter and Maple Syrup, and Scrambled Eggs.

Plus, you can find a wide selection of drinks including “Wake-Up Calls” (which are alcoholic cocktails) and non-alcoholic beverages like coffee, tea, and juice.

For our meal, we started off with the Mimosa, which is made with Gruet Blanc de Noirs Brut Sparkling Wine and Orange Juice for $12, and the Seasonal Spiked Latte, which has The Wave’s Signature Joffrey’s Coffee blend of Organic Coffee with Spirits and Flavors influenced by the Season for $11.

And, we couldn’t resist trying a few entrees, so we got The Wave Feast that includes Eggs Benedict, Scrambled Egg, Bacon, Sausage, Mickey Waffle, Bacon-Cheddar Grits, Breakfast Potatoes, and Fresh Fruit for $20…

…and the Wave Signature Sweet Potato Pancakes served with Pecan-Honey Butter and choice of Bacon, Pork Sausage, or Chicken Sausage for $14!

The new breakfast option is available at California Grill from 7AM to 11AM daily and reservations must be booked through The Wave’s system. And, the meal will only be here while The Wave is closed, so if you’re hoping to try out the signature pancakes with a view of Magic Kingdom in the morning you’ll need to book soon!
