That’s right, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has reopened after a long (and hefty) refurbishment. If you’re ready to become a galactic hero and see how the crowds turned out for the reopening, you’ve come to the right place.

Welcome back to Star Command! The popular shooting style ride has reopened, and we stopped by the park to see how the crowds were looking.

When we arrived in Magic Kingdom for rope drop, the wait time for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin was 30 minutes, but by the time we made our way to Tomorrowland, it had gone up to 45 minutes.

Tomorrowland was also PACKED.

A very busy Tomorrowland

By the time we reached the ride’s entrance, the line was stretching all the way to Carousel of Progress.

Long line

The line was so long that a Cast Member was posted at the end, which extended far beyond the regular ride queue.

By 10 AM, there were no Lightning Lane selections left for the ride.

Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin first closed in August 2025 to make way for some major changes to this classic ride. First, the ride added a brand-new scene at the beginning of the attraction that features a new character named Buddy! Buddy tells you how to play the game and gives you more information on what to expect along the way.

New character!

The ride also received updated vehicles, complete with new blasters that give you more motion throughout the game. This is a change fans have been eager for for years!

Another change is that the attraction got new targets! These are easier to see and change color once they’ve been hit, so it’s clear whether you got the points or not.

While some of these updates might seem simple, they were sorely needed, in our professional opinion. We love that everyone can get in on the fun of this game while competing to see who has the best shot of them all. We were seriously glad to see this spot reopened, while we still eagerly await the reopening of Big Thunder Mountain, which has been closed since January 2025. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney news, updates, and more.
