The next few years are set up to be a period of change at Disney World, with massive construction projects at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. However, the parks aren’t the only site of major changes; several projects are going on across Walt Disney World’s hotels.

The second half of 2026, leading into 2027, is scheduled to feature room refurbishments, restaurant closures and transformations, transportation disruptions, and.. oh yeah.. a BRAND NEW HOTEL.
Yachtsman Steakhouse is Closing in May… and Reopening in August
Located at the Yacht Club Resort, the popular Yachtsman Steakhouse is scheduled to close in May for a refurbishment of its own. According to Disney, the steakhouse should reopen sometime in August.

The nautical-themed New England-style eatery is best known for featuring a menu of steaks, seafood, and other dishes.

Grand Floridian Cafe will be Closed from July through October
From mid-July through October 2026, the Grand Floridian Cafe at the Grand Floridian Resort (Where else would it be?) will be closed for refurbishment.

The hotel will continue to offer brunch during the closure, but it will temporarily move to Citricos, and guests may see or hear the refurbishment work during the daytime hours.

These Movie-Based Rooms are Getting a Reboot
The rooms at the Value Tier All-Star Movies resort are being refurbished and modernized from May 2026 through the end of January 2027. And they’re not the only ones…

A Remodeled Kingdom
Following in the footsteps of fellow Animal Kingdom Lodge buildings, Kidani Village, whose rooms underwent refurbishment from October 2025 through May 2026, the Jambo House will see a full room refurbishment from May 2026 through January 2027.

The Skyliner will be Briefly Grounded
The Walt Disney World Skyliner will be closed January 24th through January 30th, 2027. During this closure, special bus service will travel between the Skyliner Resorts (Pop Century, Art of Animation, the Caribbean Beach Resort, and the Riviera Resort), EPCOT, and Hollywood Studios.

Finally, 2027 Will See the Opening of a NEW Hotel
The Lakeshore Lodge is being built on the former site of the River Country water park near Fort Wilderness. The new resort is set to be a mixed-use offering with both Disney Vacation Club and Deluxe Resort Tier lodging.

Set to be “inspired by the majesty of nature and its enduring influence on Disney artists”, the resort will include numerous amenities, including a large pool complex and dining.

Not to be outdone by the multiple park projects, there are plenty of major changes coming to Walt Disney World’s hotels. Stay tuned to AllEars for more updates on these projects.
