Disney World Files 2 NEW Permits for Monsters, Inc. and Tropical Americas Changes

Walt Disney World is in the midst of a massive transformation, with major projects at the Magic Kingdom (Piston Peak and Villains Land), Hollywood Studios (Monsters, Inc.), and Animal Kingdom (Tropical Americas) transforming the faces of those respective parks.

Recently, Disney filed new construction permits for both the Monsters, Inc. and Tropical Americas projects, marking major steps forward for both of those upcoming lands and their attractions.

Let’s begin at Hollywood Studios, where a recreation of Monsters, Inc.’s Monstropolis is rising in the area of that park that was once known as Muppet Courtyard. While the land’s main attraction is going to be the long-awaited suspended roller coaster based on the film’s iconic door sequence, the latest construction permit is for the land’s secondary attraction, which is set to replace an icon.

The permit is for the installation of set elements at 365 Cyress Drive, which happens to be the official address once occupied by the dearly departed Muppet*Vision 3D. The iconic attraction is set to be replaced by a Monsters, Inc. show (it’s currently unclear if this will perhaps be a relocated Laugh Floor or something new entirely). According to the permit, the contractor behind the work is Adirondack Scenic, Inc., out of Argyle, New York.

Over at Animal Kingdom, another permit for set installation was filed for 504 Dinoland Drive, AKA the future home of the Encanto dark ride attraction in the upcoming Tropical Americas land. The work, which is being done by Scenario, based out of Orlando (who have worked with Disney on various projects in the past), Florida, according to the documents, will flesh out the inside of the Madrigals’ Casita.

According to Disney, the ride will be set during the time when  Antonio has just received his special gift — the ability to communicate with animals — and his room has transformed into a rainforest while featuring appearances from other members of the family.

Both permits are set to run a year from the date they were filed in the spring of 2027. While Disney has yet to set specific opening timelines for either land, that may change this coming summer at the 2026 D23 event, where it’s hoped that the company may clarify the status of multiple projects.
