It’s the End of an Era: DinoLand Has Permanently CLOSED in Disney World

When Disney first announced that it had plans to build a new Tropical Americas-themed land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, most fans feared that the new land would take the place of DinoLand, U.S.A. Well, those fans were right, and over the past year, we’ve watched DinoLand, U.S.A. begin to close in phases.

We knew the day was coming when the entire land would close. Now, that day has come, and DinoLand, U.S.A. has permanently closed in Disney World.

We visited Animal Kingdom to see what it looks like with DinoLand, U.S.A., all closed. Boy, do our hearts hurt today!

New plant barriers are in place.

The walls that were already in place feature new signage that has removed the arrows pointing towards our beloved DINOSAUR, which is now closed to the public.

However, Cast Members were able to say farewell to the attraction privately, and a familiar face joined them. Yes, that’s Wallace Langham, the actor who played Dr. Seeker in the pre-show video!

When we stopped by, even the pin stand was closed and covered near the land’s entrance and exit. We won’t be surprised if this reopens since it was mainly just pins, and not specific DinoLand merchandise. Maybe that’s just us being hopeful!

Even the pins station was closed!

The closure of Dinosaur and DinoLand, U.S.A., is probably also having an impact on wait times in Animal Kingdom. We noticed that (to no one’s surprise) Flight of Passage has the highest waittime at 90 minutes. The biggest anomoly was Expendition Everest having a 75 minute wait time this early in the morning.

Disney is replacing DinoLand, U.S.A. with Pueblo Experanza, a Tropical Americas-themed land that will bring a new Encanto ride to the park, as well as a new Indiana Jones ride (which we assume will be taking over Dinosaur’s space). Disney has not yet revealed a opening date for new land will open, but the company has been working on it since last year, when the first part of DinoLand, U.S.A. closed.

They have shared the land will open sometime in 2027, so we won’t have to wait too long for some new excitement in the park. We’ll be keeping an eye out for updates on the new land, so check back with AllEars again soon for more.
