REVIEW: If You Love Cherry and Chocolate, Head to Disney Springs ASAP

Disney Springs is home to some of our absolute favorite restaurants and eats, so whenever we hear there are new treats to try, you know we rush right over!

Swirls on the Water is home to some of the most beloved ice cream and Dole Whip treats in the park, so when we heard there was not one, not two, but THREE new offerings, we headed over ASAP to give them a try. Now, we’ll be honest, they’re a *little* early, but hey, that’s okay by us!

First up is the Black Vanilla Cone for $6.29. This is full of mango and strawberry flavor that blends perfectly together. It’s light and refreshing, and hey, it still gets warm in Orlando during the winter, so that’s great to have! The white chocolate coating on the waffle cone is somewhat thick when eaten on its own, but it balances well with the Dole Whip. If you’re a fan of fruit-flavored sweets, give this a try!

We also grabbed the Dole Whip Sampler for $8.99. This comes with three flavors: DOLE Whip® Pineapple with Vanilla Soft-serve and Pineapple Wedge, DOLE Whip® Cherry with Chocolate Soft-serve and Morello Cherry Sauce (the new one!), and DOLE Whip® Strawberry, DOLE Whip® Mango, and Diced Strawberries and Mangoes.

We love how pleasantly tart the cherry flavor is, and how it blends perfectly with the sweetness of the chocolate. It’s a classic Valentine’s Day pairing, and we couldn’t ask for anything more (other than for it to actually stick around through the holiday!). If you really love cherry and chocolate, you’ve gotta give it a try.

However, if you’re not a fan of the other two flavors in the sampler, or you just want chocolate and cherry, the Valentine’s Morello Cherry Sundae for $7.29 is right up your alley. This is made with Dole Whip Cherry, Chocolate soft-serve, Valentine sprinkles, Morello cherry sauce, and a Maraschino cherry in a waffle bowl.

Again, the tartness of the cherry really blends well with the sweetness of the chocolate, and the cherry sauce topping adds depth to the flavor and additional tartness, which makes it easy to eat it all without it being heavy or rich. The flavor is reminiscent of the classic chocolate, cherry candies, but with a fresh taste from the cherry garnish that is very pleasant. The waffle bowl adds a crunchy texture when used as a chip to dip into the Dole Whip soft serve and breaks up the soft texture of the rest of the dessert. We also really appreciated that there was plenty of cherry sauce for the whole sundae, which gives it major points in our book!
