At AllEars, our team is made up of Disney World experts who live this stuff. Between us, we have Annual Passholders, Disney Vacation Club members, and Disney fans who have been visiting Disney World for decades.

We’ve stayed in every category of Disney hotel, from value to deluxe, during every season. That hands-on experience means we don’t just repeat brochures. Instead, we give real-world advice to help you find the Disney World hotel that best fits your vacation style, priorities, and budget. And when one of our long-time Annual Passholders says she swears by a resort? We listen.
The Disney World Hotel She Keeps Coming Back To
One of our team members has been an Annual Passholder for 11 years, and after countless stays across the Disney World property, one resort continues to stand out above the rest: Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. From the atmosphere to the food to the unforgettable views, this Deluxe resort has become her go-to, and here’s why.

An Iconic Lobby (Especially at Christmas)
Animal Kingdom Lodge’s lobby is stunning year-round, but during the holidays, it reaches another level entirely. The soaring ceilings, massive windows, African-inspired architecture, and seasonal décor make it one of the most impressive hotel lobbies on property. Did we mention the rocking chairs overlooking the savanna just off the lobby?

Animals Right Outside Your Door
Let’s be honest: the animals are the star of the show. Animal Kingdom Lodge is home to over 30 species of African wildlife, and you don’t need a park ticket to see them. Whether you’re staying in a Savannah View room or just exploring the public viewing areas, the chance to watch animals roam freely is hard to beat.

Some of the Best Food at Disney World
If food matters to you as it does to us, Animal Kingdom Lodge delivers. The Mara is perfect for quick-service meals and snacks. Boma – Flavors of Africa is a fan-favorite buffet, known for its incredible variety.Jiko – The Cooking Place offers an elevated dining experience with bold flavors. Sanaa is an absolute must-do with the bread service and atmosphere you won’t forget. You have so many great options to pick from and flavors that are unique to this resort specifically.

Great Extras for Guests
Animal Kingdom Lodge isn’t just about views and dining. It has a playground for kids, which is a huge bonus for families needing downtime, right next to the animals. A fitness center for guests who want to keep up with workouts. The Zawadi Marketplace, the resort’s gift shop, consistently offers a great selection with unique items you won’t always find elsewhere on property.
What I Wish I Knew Before Staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

The One Big Downside
No resort is perfect, and the biggest drawback of Animal Kingdom Lodge is transportation. If you rely on Disney’s free transportation, buses are your only option here. There’s no Skyliner, monorail, or walking path to the parks. That can mean longer travel times, especially if you’re heading to the parks or Disney Springs. For guests who prioritize convenience and multiple transportation options, this is something to seriously consider.

Who Will Love Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
This resort is perfect for:
- Guests who love immersive theming and a slower pace
- Animal lovers and first-time visitors looking for something truly unique
- Adventurous foodies
- Guests who want built-in entertainment outside the parks
Who Might Want to Look Elsewhere
Animal Kingdom Lodge may not be ideal for:
- Guests who want quick, easy transportation options
- Those planning rope drop to close park days every day
- Travelers who prefer being close to Magic Kingdom or EPCOT

Two Great Alternatives We Also Love
If Animal Kingdom Lodge isn’t the right fit, here are two excellent alternatives:
Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Another beautifully themed Deluxe resort with a cozy, nature-inspired vibe. It offers boat transportation to Magic Kingdom and has an incredible lobby, especially during Christmas. It has great food options, and we find it quieter than other resorts.

Disney’s Beach Club Resort
Perfect for guests who want iconic Disney vibes, monorail access, and easy trips to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. It’s lively, convenient, and full of classic Disney charm. The pool here is also a huge hit for guests. You also have easy access to several restaurants along the Boardwalk.
