We Have BAD NEWS About Ice Cream at Disney World

There’s bad news for those with a sweet tooth heading to Animal Kingdom. The litany of closures and construction hitting the the park isn’t only affecting classic attractions and day one staples, it also means — for the time being — there will be no place in the park to get a classic Disney World treat.

Spiced Molasses Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich

I’ve been visiting Disney World theme parks for over 30 years, and during that time I’ve noticed that there are few more popular treats than ice cream. Whether served in scoops, cones, a kitchen sink, or a sundae shaped like Mickey’s pants, no other snack option seems as universally beloved. That makes it all the more surprising that, with the closure of Dino-Bite Snacks, there’s nowhere in Animal Kingdom to get hand-scooped ice cream for now.

Located in Dinoland U.S.A., Dino-Bite snacks offered Häagen-Dazs Hand-scooped Ice Cream in vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, or no sugar added varieties served in waffle cones, as well hot fudge sundaes, floats, cookie ice cream sandwiches, and special seasonal offerings like the Spiced Molasses Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich (a spiced molasses cookie sandwich with vanilla bean ice cream and fall sprinkles).

In October 2025, the restaurant — as well as sister establishment Trilo-Bite — closed permanently. It was the next phase of the permanent closure of Dinoland, as Disney is turning that area of Animal Kingdom into Pueblo Esperanza. The new land will offer rides themed around Encanto and Indiana Jones, new restaurants, and — presumably — ice cream!

Dino-Bite Snacks shuttered

While the closure of Dino-Bites means there’s no hand scooped option currently left in the park, that doesn’t mean there’s nowhere left to grab a refreshing cold treat.

  • The Anandapur Ice Cream Truck, located in the park’s Asia section, offers soft serve, waffle cones, floats, hand-dipped Mickey Ice Cream Bars which can be topped with Skittles, and the Yeti Sundae (chocolate soft-serve topped with vanilla soft-serve, blue cake crumbs, sugar, sweet snowflakes, and a chocolate yeti).

  • In addition, DOLE Whip is available in various cup, float, sundae, and even cocktail options at Tamu Tamu (located in Africa) and at the Warung Outpost in Asia.

But will hand-dipped ice cream return to Animal Kingdom? Disney says YES. While no details have been released, Disney did confirm that hand-dipped ice cream will return to the park in February 2026. We just don’t know where yet!

Until then, you can find frozen treats at other Animal Kingdom locations. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on Animal Kingdom’s transformation.
