Disney Adults Are DONE With This Animal Kingdom Trend

Ah, Animal Kingdom. There are so many things to love about you.

Animal Kingdom

Your gorgeous views, your wonderful animals, and your epic attractions, just to name a few, but we’ve gotta be honest — there’s something going on that a lot of Disney World guests are just not a fan of, and it seems to be a new trend. Nowadays, you come into Animal Kingdom, and MULTIPLE aspects of the park are closed, and it’s about to get worse.

Animal Kingdom is currently under a major overhaul, especially over in what used to be DinoLand, U.S.A., which is now becoming Tropical Americas. We’re looking forward to the new Encanto and Indiana Jones theming just as much as the next person, but the problem is that it seems MOST of this land is closing entirely before any of the new additions are open to the public.

DinoLand construction

Early in 2025, Chester & Hester’s DinoRama closed, which included TriceraTop Spin and the carnival games that could win you fun prizes, such as the dinosaur plushes exclusive to this area of the park. That area has been behind walls and under construction since January 13th, 2025, and the Boneyard just closed on September 2nd. We also recently got confirmation that Dinosaur, The Dino Institute Shop, Restaurantosaurus, and Restaurantosaurus Lounge will all close on February 1st, 2026.

This means that this ENTIRE section of Animal Kingdom will be closed starting in February 2026, but there’s no NEW addition opening in Animal Kingdom to make up for the loss of this whole area.

Thankfully, the Tree of Life Theater will be showing their new Zootopia: Better Zoogether! show, as it’s set to open on November 7th, so that attraction will be back open to the public. However, many guests may feel that one new show isn’t enough to combat the closure of such a large area.

“Zootopia: Better Zoogether!” will bring Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde and other stars from the Walt Disney Animation Studios films “Zootopia” and “Zootopia 2” to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. Guests will be able to enjoy the show at the Tree of Life Theater opening in Nov. 2025.

When you add this onto the fact that Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom both also have major closures happening right now to make way for new attractions, some Disney fans are pushing back their trips to wait until these rides are open, especially if they’re only able to take a trip every few years. That way, they don’t travel to the parks when there are construction walls everywhere, only to see everything open 1-3 years later.

We’re more than willing to be patient for these wonderful new additions to the park, but we do have to admit that walking around these BIG walls for years to come might make people less inclined to visit Animal Kingdom. With that being said, if you’re looking for smaller crowds in the parks, now may be the time to visit, especially in the second half of the day!
