REVIEW: These Disney World Snack Spots Just Reopened with NEW Eats

Animal Kingdom is looking like a new world these days! DinoLand is closing in phases, meaning two restaurants closed permanently in October.

The NEW snack!

Those closed restaurants were home to some of our favorite snacks, but Disney isn’t leaving us hanging! Now, two restaurants have reopened, and they’re bringing new menu items that we can’t wait to test out. Let’s check out Terra Treats and The Smiling Crocodile!

Lots of change is hitting Animal Kingdom! It’s mostly bittersweet because it’s hard to see classics like Trilo Bites and Dino Bite Snacks close, but we do love getting to try new foods that are here to fill their void. Luckily for us, Terra Treats has finally reopened, and it’s got a new menu!

Terra Treats!

There are a few new items, like the Colombian-style hot dog and the Passion Fruit Orange Guava Juice Limade with chili lime seasoning and tequila. During our stop at the park, we tried two of the new items, starting with the Plant-Based Colombian-Style Hot Dog for $12.99.

The new menu!

This tasted incredible! For those who loved the Plant-Based Slaw Dog that disappeared from Casey’s Corner, our reporter said, “This feels like a spiritual successor.” It isn’t exactly the same, but it’s definitely something plant-based eaters should be excited about. The plant-based dog was very seasoned and juicy. There were a few sauces on top. One was a salsa verde that was creamy and bright, and we tasted notes of cilantro and citrus.

This was delicious!

It also had a mixture of mayonnaise and ketchup, as well as a pineapple sauce. The pineapple sauce wasn’t apparent compared to the other two. It was so nice and surprising how well the flavors worked together. On top, there were crushed potato chips that added a nice texture and salt to every bite. If you’re sensitive to heat, be cautious! It’s not exactly spicy, but it does leave a heat that some might find uncomfortable.

The dog!

Next, we also tried the Passion Fruit-Orange-Guava Juice Limeade With Chili-Lime Seasoning for $6.29. You can get this with or without tequila! The nonalcoholic version only has the chili-lime rim on half of the cup. This drink is basically Animal Kingdom in a cup!  It’s a twist on traditional POG juice (pineapple, orange, guava). The limeade adds a subtle tartness, plus there’s a touch of watermelon that either settles at the bottom or needs to be mixed in.

How pretty is that?

The flavor profile was incredible.  The combined flavors created a fruit punch that’s unlike anything we’ve had before, making it different from normal POG juice. It’s refreshing, sweet but not candy-sweet, which we know can turn some people off. It tastes like a treat without being over-the-top decadent—you could still enjoy a cupcake afterward without regret. As for the chili-lime rim, it wasn’t our reporter’s favorite. They were happy it was only on half the cup, and if they had this again, they would probably ask for it to be left off entirely. We can see some people enjoying the salty spicy touch, but it wasn’t for us.

The new items together!

The Smiling Crocodile also got new menu items that we are eager to put to the test! They have two new options! The Pulled Pork Cheese Arepas have Pulled Pork, Queso Fresco, and Salsa Verde, and are served with Plantain Chips for $13.49. The Pulled Chicken Cheese Arepas have Pulled Chicken in Avocado Dressing, Queso Fresco, and Salsa Verde, and are also served with Plantain Chips for $13.49.

The new menu!

These new bites are on our review list for later today! These new menu items, especially the aprepas, have us curious to see if this is Disney’s start at testing new Colombian flavors in preparation for Pueblo Esperanza! The new land will be inspired by the Tropical Americas and feature attractions inspired by Encanto and Indiana Jones. The new land is also replacing DinoLand, which is why Trilo Bites and Dino Bite Snacks closed this month.

We can’t wait to put every new menu item to the test. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney reviews, news, and more.
