Disney’s Pop Century Resort Debuts More CHANGES in Hotel Lobby

Construction is ALL. OVER. Disney World right now (and even more is on the way). You’ll find lots of construction walls in three out of four of the parks, as well as the different hotels around the property. You know what they say, though — Rome wasn’t built in a day!

You may have heard a lot about the lobby construction happening at Grand Floridian Hotel and Spa, but there’s MORE lobby construction going on at Disney’s Pop Century Resort. We’ll be honest — we thought that this temporary refurb was supposed to be finished by now. After we recently spoke with a Cast Member, though, it seems like the project has hit a few delays. Here’s how things are looking so far.

A Cast Member informed us that the lobby refurbishment is nearly complete, but we’re still waiting on new character murals featuring Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. They’ll look just like the Minnie and Daisy murals that are already up nearby. As you can see, this big green wall is just BEGGING for decoration. We can’t wait to see the final product!

Keeping with the theme of the resort, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy will rep the remaining decades, including the ’70s, ’80s, and ’90s. The Minnie Mouse mural, seen below, shows Minnie all decked out in a ’50s-inspired look.

The good news is that you can take advantage of some newly-updated seating areas, like two communal tables flanking the check-in desks, a kids’ room with a fun TV screen built into the wall,  as well as plenty of plush seating.

Each check-in desk has a retro word behind it, like “Cool,” “Groovy,” and “Neato,” that you might have heard during the related decade. We think it adds some really great color to the lobby and ties in really well with everything.

We’re really hoping to see this construction finished soon, 1.) because that means it’s officially complete, but 2.) it also means the lobby will be nice and quiet again.
