Why Lightning Lane Multi Pass Is Suddenly Pointless at One Disney World Park

Animal Kingdom has had lots of closures lately!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

DinoLand is currently working through a phased closure to make way for the new land, Pueblo Esperanza. The Tree of Life Theater is also currently under construction to bring the show Zootopia: Better Zoogether to life! Starting today, another Animal Kingdom attraction has joined the closure list.

Kali River Rapids is closed starting on October 6th, 2025, for its annual closure.

The raft ride closes each year for routine refurbishment and repairs on the ride. It’s expected to reopen sometime in December 2025, according to Disney’s website.

The ride traditionally closes after the holiday season, around January, when the temperatures get a bit too chilly for water rides that will soak you. Yes, there are chilly days in Orlando, even if they are rare. The earlier closure ensures that there won’t be too many closures at once when Dinosaur closes permanently in February 2026. The attraction’s closure means that Animal Kingdom will be down to just 5 open rides over the next few months.

This is another reason to skip out on purchasing Lightning Lane Multi-Pass in Animal Kingdom. When it comes to splurges in Disney World, Lightning Lanes give you the ability to skip long lines for a fee, and we tend to love them! In Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios, they can lead to maximizing your day.

In Animal Kingdom, even when every ride is open, Multi Pass isn’t a necessity for maximizing. It can be a nice way to avoid lines, but even when the park is considered busy, we don’t think that you need to spend the money. Now that it’s down to 5 rides, our point stands more than ever! If you really want to avoid a long line, we recommend purchasing a Lightning Lane Single Pass for Flight of Passage and saving your cash on Multi Pass.

While we hope that this current closure brings new changes and updates to the attraction, most likely, it is just for annual refurbishment. As always, be sure to keep following AllEars for more Disney news and updates.
