We asked our readers on Facebook what their biggest mistake was at a Disney World hotel, and a few of these mistakes really jumped out at us because they could cost you at least $250, if not more.

Not Using the FREE Hotel Amenities

A lot of our readers agreed that not using the free hotel amenities was the biggest mistake they made. They likely paid over $250 a night but never used any of the great things at the hotel.

This means they paid well over $200 just to sleep and shower. Laura said this was her biggest mistake, “Not taking advantage of the pool, arcade, and activities. Exhaustion sets in.” You certainly pay for the atmosphere and convenience at a Disney World hotel, but there are some really great things to do there, too. Taking a rest day or middle of the day break to hang out and enjoy what the hotel has to offer can help you feel less exhausted AND get more for the money you paid.

Not Making the Reservation

Jay shared that his mistake was “never booking” the Disney World hotel. If you’re paying upwards of $250 a night, not at a Disney World hotel, this may or may not be a mistake. But it sounds like for Jay, it was.

Disney World hotels offer free transportation to the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. There are lots of extra activities such as outdoor movies, campfires, kids’ activities, dining, and more available. Guests may get perks such as Early Entry and/or Extended Evening Hours. There are lots of benefits to staying at a Disney World hotel during your vacation at the resort. It could be a pricey mistake to stay anywhere else.

Not Staying Longer/Leaving

We had SO many readers say their mistake was leaving, and honestly, we agree. We wish you all could stay even one extra day on your Disney World vacation. Sure, by leaving a day early, they saved the cost of one night at the hotel, but it might be worth having that one extra day!
