We recommend rope dropping and taking advantage of Early Theme Park Entry a lot. It can help you knock out some of the most popular attractions at Disney World with a lower wait time, so you aren’t waiting an hour or two later in the day.

However, sometimes the theme parks have rough mornings, and it seems like this morning is a bit of a rough one for Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
We were rope dropping the park this morning and noticed two popular attractions were having some issues. For starters, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster didn’t open up for early entry, and even almost an hour after the park opened, the roller coaster still hadn’t opened up. We noticed yesterday that there were no Lightning Lanes being offered for the attraction today, but it is possible that the Lightning Lanes had just been booked up already.

As well, Slinky Dog Dash went down right before the park opened for all guests, while it had a 45-minute wait. We were rope dropping this Toy Story Land roller coaster, and while it did come back up quickly, it was announced that they had to take a train off, so the ride was only running at half capacity. The wait time ended up getting adjusted to 95 minutes, and Cast Members were announcing that it could be close to two hours if you just got in line.

Luckily, we waited it out, and that wait time turned out to be a bit inflated. It dropped to 45 minutes, then to 30 minutes. Not bad for one of the busiest rides in the park!
While it can be frustrating to get up early for rope drop and run into issues, it will happen sometimes. Attractions will have technical difficulties so they may not open up for early entry like planned, or they may go down while you are in line. If it is an attraction you really want to ride, you can always come back later in the day or attempt to wait it out. It can be frustrating, but don’t let it ruin your day!

Don’t forget to take advantage of the My Disney Experience app to check wait times and see if attractions are temporarily closed. There are also various wait time signs located around the park, but we highly recommend downloading the My Disney Experience app as it has so much information!
If you were hoping to say goodbye to Aerosmith before the Muppets take over Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster in 2026, you may need to come back on a different day. We will continue to watch the status of this ride and keep you updated!
