This Disney World Land Is SCREAMING for Help and No One’s Listening

While most Disney World lands are buzzing with updates and fresh ideas, this one feels stuck in the past, silently screaming for help.

Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom is seeing a lot of construction happening in the park. We have rides closed for refurbishment, like Big Thunder Mountain and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. Disney is actively working on the new Villains land and Cars-themed land, Piston Peak. While many of the areas are seeing updates, there is one land that could use a few upgrades.

Tomorrowland feels like it’s been left in the past. What was once meant to represent the exciting promise of the future now feels more like a relic of yesterday. And honestly? It’s screaming for help. Walk through Tomorrowland today and you’ll notice plenty of spaces that need serious attention.

Tomorrowland

The most glaring example is the empty building where Stitch’s Great Escape! once operated. It’s been sitting lifeless for years, and at this point, it feels more like wasted space than anything else. Disney should look at putting another attraction here (just maybe one that isn’t so terrifying!).

Then there’s the Tomorrowland Speedway. While it’s nostalgic for some, the noisy, gas-powered cars hardly scream “futuristic.” It’s hard not to imagine how much cooler (and more on theme) it would be if Disney swapped them for sleek electric vehicles (like they’re doing in Disneyland) or even a reimagined concept that better represents innovation and progress.

Even the crown jewel of Tomorrowland, Space Mountain, could use some love. While the ride is still thrilling, the interior queue and theming feel dated compared to what Disney has done in other parks. Disneyland gets overlays frequently on their version of this ride, from Star Wars to Fantastic 4.

Meanwhile, Tokyo Disney is working on a huge overhaul of its entire Tomorrowland. Disney stated the ride, “will include enhanced performance and immersive special effects. These will give guests even more thrills throughout their journey and will provide a greater connection between Earth and the universe.” Seeing these updates abroad makes the Magic Kingdom version feel that much more neglected.

It’s not just the attractions that could use a glow-up. The dining options are in need of a refresh, too. The Lunching Pad and Auntie Gravity’s still serve the same generic theme park snacks and soft serve that you can find anywhere else in the park. Imagine instead a lineup of “futuristic” foods: creative flavor combos, space-inspired snacks, or even high-tech presentations that make dining part of the experience — thinking along the lines of Pym’s Test Kitchen. Even something as simple as futuristic ice cream or specialty drinks would help Tomorrowland stand out and feel more alive.

To be fair, some change is on the horizon. Disney has confirmed that Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin will be getting an update, including updated technology, new ride vehicles, and a new character. But one ride refresh isn’t enough to fix an entire land that feels like it’s been collecting dust while other areas of the park thrive with fresh attractions, new storytelling, and modern technology. Tomorrowland needs a cohesive vision. A bold reimagining that truly delivers on the promise of “the future.”

Tomorrowland has all the potential to shine again, but right now it’s stuck in a holding pattern. While other Disney parks push forward with stunning overhauls and modern updates, Magic Kingdom’s version feels more and more outdated by the year. It’s time for Disney to give this land the attention it desperately needs, because the future should always feel exciting, not forgotten. Our guess is that Tomorrowland will be the next to recieve an overhaul following all the changes happening in Frontierland.

  1. My family visited Magic Kingdom for the first time in several years. We go annually but go to the other three parks. We rode Tron which was great and then we rode space mountain next. Space Mountain felt like a carnival roller coaster that is available in any county fair. If I remember correctly there were moving sidewalks that don’t operated anymore. The moving sidewalks on people mover don’t work. The little window scenes seemed dirty and dusty and have not been updated in years. We tried Carousel of progress but got stuck in the second scene. We had to watch it 3 times before a cast member let us out. So yes I agree that Tommorowland definitely needs attention and some CAPEX..
