FULL REVIEW of Magic Kingdom’s NEW Beak and Barrel Lounge

The time has finally come!

Quincy is ready to try it all!

We’re inside Beak and Barrel, Magic Kingdom‘s newest pirate-themed lounge, and trying EVERYTHING on the menu for the first time! There are so many fun secrets and interactive elements inside this bar, but now it’s time to try all the dining and drink options you can grab at this new spot!

Background

The Beak and Barrel has finally opened at Magic Kingdom! This Pirates of the Caribbean-themed bar has been the talk of the town, and we’re so thrilled to experience it again.

The Beak and Barrel

This new lounge is located right next to Pirates of the Caribbean in Adventureland. There’s a maximum of two drinks per person 21+, and you’ll only be allowed in the lounge for 45 minutes due to the low capacity.

Atmosphere

As you might expect, the atmosphere in here feels like a pirate tavern! This cozy, dark space features tons of details that match the pirating lifestyle — there are cannonball-shaped holes in the wall, pirate flags, and lots and lots of barrels (filled with rum, of course!).

The Beak and Barrel

There are hidden details ALL over, such as an Enchanted Rum Bottle gifted to Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn, the creator of the pub, by a powerful Enchantress. As long as it stays full, the lounge will never run out of drinks!

Watch these bottles closely!

Advance Dining Reservations are highly encouraged, and as it stands, they’re pretty tough to get! However, some last-minute reservations may pop up the day of your visit, so check with the host stand or your My Disney Experience App frequently. We did speak with a Cast Member today who said there is no current wait list for walk-up guests.

Food & Drinks

Starting off strong with the food, we grabbed the Island Provisions for $16. This is Plantain Chips, Blue Corn Tortillas, and Toasted Flatbread served with Mango Chutney, Garlic Chimichurri, Spiced Guava, and Zesty Cilantro Cream Dips.

Island Provisions

This is going to be your version of chips and dip, but pirate style! There was a variety of different chips and sauces to try, and the portion was great. We think three to four people could share this over drinks and really enjoy the experience. The Spiced Guava was our favorite! While it may resemble barbecue sauce, it was actually more like apple butter, but with a tropical twist. We liked dipping it with the plain chips.

Different chip options

The Mango Chutney and Zesty Cilantro Cream Dip were both tasty, but not as unique an offering as the Spiced Guava. If you’re looking for the food you have to order when you visit, Island Provisions is the one you want.

Dipping in

Next was the Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes with Chipotle-braised Chicken for $14, which are Warm Corn Cakes stuffed with Melted Cheese, Lime Sour Cream, Chili Peppers, and Cotija. There’s also the Cook’s Corn Griddle Cakes with Roasted Corn and Poblano Peppers available for $12, which are Warm Corn Cakes stuffed with Melted Cheese, Lime Sour Cream, Chili Peppers, and Cotija.

Griddle Cake

For the two versions, one is vegetarian and the other is not, and today we opted for the chicken version. The entire griddle cake is heavy and thick, with a similar taste to buttered cornbread. This is more of a knife and fork dish, which is great if you’re looking for more of a lunch, versus the Island Provisions, which was perfect for snacking. While there is cheese inside, it didn’t provide a huge flavor but added some creaminess along with the sour cream, which was on the lighter note of lime. There wasn’t a bunch of chicken, and it was on the sweeter side versus the chiptole spice. We think everyone will enjoy this dish, but it probably won’t be the standout favorite.

Fork and knife type of dish

We also grabbed the Kraken’s Catch for $18, which is Octopus Tentacles marinated in Lemon and Lime Juice with Olives, Bell Peppers, Avocado, and Piquillo Pepper-Almond Foam.

Kraken’s Catch

This was such a fun dish to try! The octopus wasn’t chewy, and there were big chunks of tentacles. It was cooked, so it wasn’t quite a ceviche but ceviche adjacent, like a seafood salad. It’s a great way to cool down on a hot summer day, and it was a fun and quirky dish that perfectly fit the restaurant’s theme. We just wish we could see the tentacles for pictures so we could show them to our friends and say we’re eating octopus in Magic Kingdom.

We gobbled it up

Then it was time for the drinks! Starting with the non-alcoholic options, we had the Cursed Treasure for $7.75, which is an indulgent blend of Coconut Milk and Cookie Crumbs topped with Vanilla Foam and Pirate’s Gold. The drink is more of an Ube lemonade with a bit of sweetness and a hint of nuttiness. The Vanilla Cake Plank didn’t have a lot of flavor and was pretty standard. The Chocolate Cannonball was a chocolate ganache, very thick on the outside with a kind of cake texture on the inside. The caramel popcorn tasted fresh, as if it had just been popped and then tossed in fresh caramel. But it is very sticky

Cursed Treasure

The Treasure Trove is also available for $13.75, which is A mysterious Ube, Lemon, and Coconut Concoction served with a Vanilla Cake Plank, Chocolate Cannonball, and Golden Caramel Popcorn. It tastes like a cream soda because it’s creamy, but it’s not a soda. It also has a bit of toasted flavor, plus the cookie crumbs on top are a little like shortbread. It’s something different, and we appreciate that.

Treasure Trove

As for the alcoholic drinks, the first of the signature cocktails we tried is the Siren’s Whisper for $20, which is Pot & Column Still White Rum Blend, Bols Blue Curaçao Liqueur, Combier Crème de Pêche de Vigne Liqueur, Lime, and Cinnamon.

Siren’s Whisper

This is going to be your typical rum punch. When our server brought it to us, it came with a bit of pirate fun where they ran back to put “mermaid tears” in our drink. While nothing actually changed in the drink, it was nice to be part of the fun. We didn’t pick up any cinnamon, but could pull out the cherry, peach, and lime. If you love sweeter drinks, this is perfect for you.

The Lit Fuse is $18.50 and made with Los Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal, Tempus Fugit Crème de Banane Liqueur, Coconut Water, Lime Juice, and Hella Cocktail Co. Smoked Chili Bitters.

Lit Fuse

When our reporter tasted this, their first thought was “exceptionally balanced.” The whole drink is smoky, and the strongest flavor is the banana liqueur, which is also garnished with a plantain. Because it’s so well balanced, there’s not a harsh bite of alcohol, and the liqueur really smooths it out. There’s the right amount of acid, and the bitters bring in the smokiness. It wasn’t spicy, but there was a hint of heat to it; the drink was creative and worth trying!

Next up was the Barrels Ablaze for $19! This is Jack Daniel’s Bonded Bourbon, Honey, Lemon, and Chile.

Barrels Ablaze

Bam! This drink has quite a bit of spice, and it was our favorite drink. Our server recommended this, and we’re so glad we ordered it. There’s honey in it to help smooth out the bourbon, and the lemon brightens it, ensuring the honey doesn’t make it too sweet. It was even rimmed with chili salt! If you’re a fan of brown liquor, Barrels Ablaze is going to be your go-to. It’s not overly sweet, but it brings in the heat while being a complex drink.

Up next was the Hibiscus Rum Punch Royale for $19, and it’s made with Don Q Reserva 7 Puerto Rican Rum, Hibiscus, Demerara, and Lime topped with Prosecco.

Hibiscus Rum Punch Royale

This is another version of rum punch, similar to Siren’s Whisper but not as sweet. It’s topped with prosecco, and it was the only drink we tried that was bubbly. We liked it better than Siren’s Whisper because it wasn’t as sweet, so it’s great if you like fruity drinks but still want to be able ot taste the alcohol. The floral flavor is there but not overpowering, more on the nose. It’s a fun drink in a copper mug, which helps bring the atmosphere to life.

And what’s a Disney lounge without a cool mug? The Plunderer’s Punch will be $46.00 and is made with The Kraken Black Spiced Rum, Blackberry, Lime, and Vanilla served in a Souvenir Pirate Skull Mug. We had a choice between the alcoholic drink, which is served in the pirate skull mug, and the non-alcoholic version of the drink. The pirate head mug, though, won it for us — it’s gorgeous and holds quite a bit of drink. The drink itself is lighter than we expected and is very fruity and tropical.
