REVIEW: Tiny Taco-Shaped Cookies in Disney World? Say No More.

Planning a trip to Disney World and not sure where you should eat while you’re there? Luckily, you’ve come to the right place — we’re experts in all things Disney, and that includes dining!

Disney Springs

Here at AllEars, we know all the ins and outs of Disney World restaurants — including where you should definitely eat, and where you should skip. We recently stopped by Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC at Disney Springs and are bringing you our FULL review!

Background

Made popular by their main location in New York City (which has since closed), Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC specializes in goodies that are vegan and gluten-free, and many options are also kosher, dairy, egg, nut, and soy-free.

Erin McKenna began her business to break the idea that having to avoid certain allergens doesn’t mean you need to settle for desserts that taste blech. And if we do say so ourselves, she has certainly succeeded!

Atmosphere

This is a relatively small spot, and there’s no indoor seating, so you’ll want to take your treats elsewhere.

Inside

The bakery case is filled with delightful and creative options, and if you’re gluten-free or vegan, great news — everything in the store is safe for you to eat!

Yum!

But enough about that, what are we eating?!

Food

We grabbed tons of exciting options on our stop to try a little bit of everything! First up was the Taco Cookie ($8.25), which is a chocolate chip cookie shaped like a taco, dipped in some chocolate buttercream, and then filled with a chocolate cake/brownie-like treat inside. There’s more buttercream on top that’s made to look like taco toppings — too cute!

The texture of all of this was very impressive, especially considering there’s no butter in it at all, and we were impressed by the level of chocolate as well! However, it is VERY sweet and rich, so we don’t think it’s possible to eat it in one sitting unless you’re sharing.

Then it was time for the Faux Hot Dog ($9.20), which is exactly what it sounds like! The cake itself looks like a hot dog bun, and then there’s buttercream inside and on top that makes it look like a hot dog.

Faux Hot Dog

This cake’s texture was a little on the firmer side, almost closer to pound cake, and while it’s absolutely adorable, we don’t necessarily recommend it for those who aren’t limited by dietary restrictions.

The Cupcake Slider ($9.20) is made to look like a burger, and the way it’s done is by taking a cupcake, cutting it in half, and then using one part of it as the top bun. The buttercream in the middle is all made to look like a burger and different toppings, which, again, is super cute, but is it worth it?

Cupcake Slider

It essentially had the same flavor as the Faux Hot Dog, since it’s the same ingredients (cake and buttercream), and it was denser than we typically like our cake to be. But if you’re heading to the bakery due to your dietary needs, we say it’s a good choice!

Next up was something a little different, which was the “Corn Dog” on a Stick ($9.20). This is basically a gluten-free and vegan Twinkie on a stick, so while the others were more buttercream than cake, this was the opposite.

“Corn Dog” on a Stick

Again, this cake was denser and less moist than what we typically like, as people who are able to eat normal cake, but if you’re gluten-free or vegan, you may want to give it a try if you’re more a fan of cake than buttercream!

The buttercream inside

Finally, we grabbed the Fries with Ketchup ($6), which is another unique option! This is the same type of cake as the other offerings but rolled in a donut batter, then covered in cinnamon sugar. The “ketchup” is strawberry jam, and we think this might have been our favorite!

Fries with Ketchup

Whereas we had some complaints with the cake not being as moist as the other treats, the strawberry jam here really helps with that. It was also a BIG serving size, so it is easily shareable between multiple different members of your group.

Magic or Tragic?

Overall, we think this is a fantastic spot if you, or someone in your party, has these dietary needs, but otherwise, we do think there are other solid spots in Disney Springs that you may enjoy more.
