The NEW Ride Warning We’re Issuing for Hollywood Studios This Summer

Slinky Dog Dash is one of Disney World’s most popular rides. However, the coaster’s queue has a major issue that’s only getting worse this summer.

According to Accuweather, the summer of 2025 will see 18-24 days over 90 degrees in Orlando, and that’s before humidity makes the real feel temperature even higher. This comes on the heels of the summer of 2024, during which Florida experienced the warmest summer on record based on statewide average temperatures, and several cities, including Orlando, experienced their hottest heat seasons on record, according to the Florida Climate Center and the Office of the State Climatologist.

So, how does this increasing heat affect Slinky Dog Dash? Well, the ride’s queue — and frankly, Toy Story Land overall — is severely lacking in shade. Some areas have covering, but most of the queue, the early extended portions in particular, are exposed to the beating sun. Slinky Dog can draw in large crowds and long wait times, which can be really tough in the heat of the summer.

So, if you find yourself waiting for Slinky Dog Dash this summer, be sure to take the heat seriously. Ways to do so include:

  • Wear comfortable, light clothing.
  • Staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
  • Wearing sunglasses, a cap, and SPF lotion to shield from the sun.
  • Carry a small fan,  cooling towel, or shade umbrella for relief while waiting in a long line.

Most importantly, listen to your body. As tempting as it can be to try and “gut it out” to “make your money’s worth” from your Disney day, making sure you ride Slinky Dog Dash, it’s not worth your health. Take breaks, and if you need to need to tap out on a long line, or even a whole park day, do so if it’s the best option for your health.

Yikes!

Recently, Disney has added some shade to Toy Story Land in the form of a covered seating area for Woody’s Lunch Box, which is certainly a start.

  1. Bob Chapek left off some line cover as well as eating areas to lower the cost. That just meant the money had to be spent later but the project was able to be announced as at or under budget.
