Disney World is in a state of transition this year. While there are plenty of new offerings at the resort, including new shows at Hollywood Studios, a new nighttime parade coming to the Magic Kingdom, and a selection of deals and discounts unprecedented in the post-pandemic era.

However, despite those changes and additions, there are also several major issues plaguing the resort that may affect your next trip to Disney World.
Stop us if you’ve heard this one before: Currently, there are major construction projects going on at every Walt Disney World theme park.
Let’s begin at the Magic Kingdom, where several attractions, including Big Thunder Mountain (more on that in a bit), the Astro Orbiter, and the Hall of Presidents, are currently down for refurbishment. While the latter two are scheduled to reopen at some point later this year, the “Wildest Ride in the Wilderness” — a constantly popular, people-eating attraction — is scheduled to be closed until 2026.

EPCOT’s Test Track is still shuttered for a major refurbishment that began in June of 2024. The attraction is scheduled to reopen later this year.

At Hollywood Studios, construction work has already begun on parts of the former Muppet Courtyard, which is being turned into the new Monsters, Inc. area. That work will ramp up further with the June 7th closures of Muppet*Vision 3D and PizzeRizzo.

Finally, work is ongoing on the Tropical Americas expansion at Animal Kingdom, with areas of DinoLand already closed to be turned into the new Encanto/Indiana Jones-based land coming to the park.

In addition to those long-term construction projects, there has also been a rash of temporary ride closures, including Expedition Everest, Rise of the Resistance, and Space Mountain on busy weekend days. While these types of closures are unavoidable in the world of theme parks, coming combined with construction and ride closures can have some negative repercussions on a guest’s day, especially if they have Lightning lanes booked.

Despite a slew of new additions this summer, some major problems are plaguing the Walt Disney World Resort right now. Stay tuned to AllEars for more on these issues!
