4 Rules Introverted Disney Adults Must Follow in Magic Kingdom

While Disney World is the most magical place on Earth, sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming for introverts. There are LOTS of people everywhere you go, and it can be overwhelming trying to fit everything you want to do into your day.

Magic Kingdom

However, it is 100% possible for introverts to have a fantastic day at Magic Kingdom; you just need to follow a couple of rules!

Let’s make one thing very clear about Disney World. It’s okay to take a mid-day break or leave the park for a bit if you are feeling overwhelmed. You might feel like you need to go, go, go to make the most of your money, but Disney World is a vacation, and you should do what will allow you to have the most fun on your vacation.

Hello from the Magic Kingdom!

You can always head back to your hotel, or take the monorail or bus to a nearby hotel for some relaxation. Make sure you are planning your day so you have time to recharge. Don’t pack your day so full of activities that you don’t even have time to decompress.

Happily Ever After

You could consider starting your day with a breakfast reservation at Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort; then, you can walk peacefully over to Magic Kingdom. Or, plan to take the monorail to one of the nearby resorts for lunch. You can stop by Capt. Cook’s at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort for some delicious food and then spend some time lounging on the beach. Usually, the hotels are not super crazy during the day, so you can enjoy a meal and have some time to decompress.

Don’t sleep on the lowkey attractions! Sometimes, it is easy to forget about less popular attractions like the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover or Carousel of Progress, but they often have shorter lines and are a great way to escape the crowds for a bit.

PeopleMover POV

On the PeopleMover, you get your own seating area for your group and then travel around Tomorrowland. On Carousel of Progress, you get to enjoy an air-conditioned show that isn’t full of strobe lights or loud noises. They are long enough for a quick break, and after, you can return to the action feeling a bit more relaxed.

When it comes to meals, try your best to choose less chaotic restaurants. We love grabbing a snack at Columbia Harbour House and heading upstairs to relax. It usually isn’t as crowded, and you can take some time to decompress in the AC. We have also had luck at Pinocchio Village Haus, but at peak meal times, it can get a bit chaotic.

Places like Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe or Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe may not be the best choices if you are hoping for some time to recharge. These restaurants tend to be very loud, and lots of people are moving in every direction. You could also grab a quick snack and head to a quieter area of the park to enjoy it!

Our last rule is specific, but it might just make or break your day at Magic Kingdom. If you do end up going to Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, make sure you sit in the middle of the row. This show utilizes audience participation, and you are less likely to get chosen in the middle. It isn’t guaranteed you won’t get chosen, but it is much harder for the Cast Members to reach you if you are tucked in.

  1. Get enough sleep. My ex wife was introverted and prone to breakdowns and issues so it became a mission of mine to make sure she got plenty of sleep, ate a good breakfast and as best I could, check that her meds were balanced and working. I would have to remember and plot out quiet places just in case and even make use of ‘family’ restrooms to give her a few moments of quiet time if necessary.
