“I Am Banning My Future Kids From This Ride” — 4 Disney World Rides That Are Out of Control

Disney World rides aren’t for everyone. Some people love roller coasters while others prefer the chill rides. Some people can’t stand water rides, and others are obsessed with them.

Peter Pan’s Flight

There’s no right or wrong answer here, you like what you like and that’s amazing! But we started seeing some reviews come through on our website that had us rethinking some of these rides when it comes to some of us on the team who are thinking of having kids someday. We hadn’t thought of these rides like this before, but consider our eyes opened!

Mission: SPACE

Yep, if you’ve ridden this attraction at all, you probably knew this one was going to be on here. There are two tracks to this ride — Orange (more intense) and Green (less intense). Orange Mission spins you around extremely fast so you feel the G-forces like astronauts do when they take off, but Green Mission comes without that potentially nauseating experience. A recent review from a reader of ours says:

“There are warnings about motion sickness and such but you may not realize how it would affect you until after the ride starts. But there’s nothing you can do once the doors close…I’m fine with roller coasters but after this, I felt dizzy for several hours and impaired my enjoyable of the park afterward.”

Mission: SPACE

When in doubt, we say always ride the Green version of this ride, and honestly, if you’re concerned you or your kiddos are claustrophobic and/or even the slightest bit sensitive to motion sickness, it’s best to stay FAR away from Orange Mission.

“it’s a small world”

Some of you may be very confused to see this on the list while others are nodding emphatically and yelling “YES!” at the screen. A recent review we got from a reader is actually what inspired this post as a whole, saying:

“It was all kids singing and dancing until one time the ride got stuck one time and I didn’t really care until we got stuck three times on the ride this made me so annoyed we had to sit there for a long time just listening to nonstop kids singing. I am banning my future kids from this ride he was so boring. It was so slow. My parents even started sleeping on the ride. It was very annoying.”

“it’s a small world”

Again, it’s important to know what you’re getting into on this ride, because while it is classic, it’s also over 10 minutes of just hearing the same song over and over again. Considering there’s always a chance you’ll get stuck on any ride, it’s important to think about if you’re willing to get stuck and listen to this song on repeat for even LONGER if you do get stuck. Overall, we don’t often think negatively like this about this beloved attraction, but we also totally get it.

Peter Pan’s Flight

Right across from “it’s a small world” you’ll find Peter Pan’s Flight, another iconic attraction that brings a strong sense of nostalgia for many. However, it’s on this list for one very specific reason, said very well by one of our readers below:

“It’s a cute, nostalgic ride, but DO NOT WAIT IN THE STANDBY LINE. You will be disappointed! It IS NOT worth the 60+ minute wait it almost always has! If you want to ride it, use a lightning lane…And while the interactive queue in standby is cute, it’s still and infuriatingly slow line.”

Peter Pan’s Flight

We totally agree here — honestly, we don’t recommend waiting longer for 30-40 minutes for this attraction at most, because while it IS super cute, it’s only about three minutes long. Many guests feel like they wasted an hour of their park day riding it, especially if it wasn’t a massive priority for them in the first place.

Mad Tea Party

Also located in Magic Kingdom is Mad Tea Party. Most commonly known as the Teacups, we didn’t need to find a reader quote for this one because we feel all of you know what we’re about to say — if you’re not ready to spin, do NOT ride.

Mad Tea Party

Even if you have people with you who won’t spin the actual Teacup, the ride itself moves/spins in a circle, which can be a problem for people with motion sickness. It’s often unfortunately how a lot of people who don’t THINK they have motion sickness find out the hard way that they do, and that goes for people of all ages, not just as you get older!

  1. The Peter Pan ride is Always breaking down which is why the wait times are so long. Even if a short wait time is posted at the stand by entrance, the ride will inevitably break down while you’re in line and the wait will triple. Do not bother unless you have 60-90 minutes to kill doing nothing but standing on cold cement in the heat.
