Fans Are Sharing Beloved Disney World Rides That They Secretly DESPISE

Is there a ride in Disney World that everyone seems to just love but you don’t?

Magic Kingdom

Don’t worry, you are not alone! We asked our Disney experts (you!) for their take on rides that they secretly despise but everyone else might love.

After getting our readers’ opinions, there were a lot of rides that were discussed. Many readers pointed out that they do not hate these rides, but just have certain aversions to them.

Space Mountain

When we asked our readers to tell us the rides they most despised, Space Mountain was brought up quite a bit. This ride constantly boasts high wait times, but some Disney fans think it is overrated.

Space Mountain

Space Mountain is a roller coaster dark ride that transports guests to space! Some readers think this ride is a little too rough, and we understand what they are saying!

Space Mountain

One reader, Megan, said that Space Mountain shakes too much, and she feels like she needs a chiropractor after. Tina, another reader, also agreed that it shakes up her back and even sets off her motion sickness. Many readers also commented that this ride is very jerky and can cause headaches.

Long Lines

Some fans who have ridden both Disneyland and Disney World’s Space Mountains say that Disneyland’s version is more tame and less jerky as compared to Disney World’s.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway

In 2020, Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway opened in Hollywood Studios. Formerly, this space held the Great Movie Ride which closed in 2017.

Since the closure, some fans have been left feeling dissatisfied with the replacement attraction. Ian, one of our readers, pointed out that they do not hate this attraction, but it left a sour taste in their mouth because it took away their favorite Hollywood Studios ride.

Another reader, Stacey, shared that she feels that Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is a downgrade and disappointment compared to the Great Movie Ride.

The Chinese Theater

Other readers like Pat think that this attraction is boring and is a one-and-done. Christine shared that she feels that the ride is a “lackluster experience” with scary versions of the characters.

It can be hard to love an attraction, especially after it replaces a fan favorite, and that seems to be the case with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway.

RIP to The Great Movie Ride

Peter Pan’s Flight

Moving over to Magic Kingdom’s Fantasyland, there is a certain dark ride that always has a high wait time. We are talking about Peter Pan’s Flight!

Peter Pan’s Flight

This attraction is different from other slow-moving dark rides because the ride vehicle is suspended from the ceiling. This is to give the illusion that you are flying on a pirate ship. While this ride technology is different from most slow-moving dark rides, certain Disney fans don’t understand the hype.

A reader, George, shared that he loves the concept, but he will never understand why this ride is so popular. Danielle says that this attraction is overrated, and the ride is way too short to have such high wait times.

Faith, like many other readers, pointed out that they do not hate these rides, but they also do not get the hype around Peter Pan’s Flight.

Help me, Mr. Smee!

The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

Are you brave enough to enter the Twilight Zone? Some of our readers prefer to stay away from this attraction.

Tower of Terror

Liz, a reader, told us that you will never be able to get them to ride Tower of Terror and just walking near it makes them anxious! Those of you like Liz who may want to check out the interior and the theming of this attraction can go through the queue with their party and take a chicken exit right before boarding. You get to ride in an elevator to the lobby, so it is kind of like you rode the attraction! Just a milder version!

The Hollywood Tower Hotel Lobby

Carla, another reader, commented that she is not a fan of the Tower of Terror, and only rides when her son asks her to join him. Kari told us that the drops freak her out and make her feel like she is going to fall out!

  1. I’m usually visting theme parks alone. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is a real problem as a solo rider, because you inevitably end up in one of the two outside seats in the back row of the vehicle. And due to the nature of the vehicle, those are the most violently jerked about seats. Much different from, say, middle seats front row.

As the saying goes: “I’m getting to old for this.”

  2. Tomorrowland Speedway. Absolutely nothing futuristic about a ride this is in nearly every amusement park in the country.
