It’s been weeks since The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers finally opened up at Disney’s BoardWalk after being delayed a few times.

We’ve enjoyed the meals and tea service we’ve had there, but we can’t ignore the fact that this restaurant is EXPENSIVE, even by Disney’s standards! The restaurant isn’t owned by Disney though, and we actually saw prices drop before the restaurant even opened as guests thought what was going to be charged was too outrageous. Don’t get us wrong, the prices are still high, but they’re slightly easier to justify since being lowered, and we think it’s a great place to go for special occasions. However, if you’re still skeptical, just hear it from an AllEars reviewer themselves!
An Anonymous reviewer recently visited The Cake Bake Shop for breakfast and left a review on our page on December 20th. Here’s what they had to say!
“We went to the CakeBakeShop for breakfast. Had banana bread, waffles and eggs. The food was good, service was both friendly and competent and the atmosphere was like a little fancy fairytale land. It was our last Disney meal of our trip and we were a little tired of restaurant food and this did not taste like mass produced restaurant food.. it tasted satisfying. My 22 year old son said it was his favorite meal of the trip even if it was “just eggs”.. I loved the little to go bag and use it to take my lunch to work.. a sweet(free) daily reminder of our trip and our meal. Yes, it was pricey but we’d go back“

We totally agree with this review — it’s not like other restaurants in Disney World! It’s certainly in the realm of elite table service dining, but if you’ve budgeted for it on your trip anyway, this may be a great alternative to eating at a character meal or higher-end table service meal in the parks.

Again, it’s totally up to what you and your family/friends are looking for on your trip! If you’re really big fans of finding the best food there is and enjoying every bite, and you’re not a big fan of dining where the Disney magic is highest (there’s plenty of magic here, it’s just not necessarily “Disney” brand of magic), then The Cake Bake Shop is likely a fantastic choice. If you’ve got little ones who want to meet characters while you eat, or YOU yourself want to meet characters during your meal, then it’s best to spend your money elsewhere.
