Winter is a popular time for Disney to close attractions that are most popular in the summer.
You may see water rides like Kali River Rapids close for refurbishment in the colder months of the year. This is because fewer people are interested in experiencing these attractions when it’s a bit too cold to get soaked and then walk around a park. Since the attractions need to go through refurbishment anyway, they might as well do it when it’s not being ridden as much. This same logic goes for hotel pools when guests aren’t swimming as often because it’s just too cold (yes, even in Florida). This is exactly what’s coming soon for one very popular hotel pool!
Stormalong Bay is a fun pool shared between Disney’s Yacht Club and Beach Club Resorts. It includes a beach, sand-bottomed pool, lazy river, and a shipwreck-replica slide that is one of the highest hotel slides at Disney World. There are also three hot tubs within Stormalong Bay.
This pool is a fun place to hang out and chill while you’re staying at one of the two hotels that share it. However, it will be unavailable starting in January 2025! Disney has shared that “from January 2025 through June 2025, Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts will be closed for routine maintenance.”
Specific closing and opening dates have not been provided by Disney, so if you’re staying at the Beach Club or Yacht Club starting the first week of January (approximately a week from now, December 27th), we suggest being prepared for it to be closing any day during your trip.
While this pool is closed, you can still swim at the Tidal and Dunes Cove pools at the Beach Club or the Admiral pool at the Yacht Club. These are leisure pools that offer a great place to hang out, take a dip, or sit in the hot tub.
Don’t be caught off guard by this pool closure at Disney World! From January through June 2025, Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Clubs will be closed for refurbishment.
