Disney’s Been Eerily Quiet About These 5 Expansion Announcements

Back in August, Disney made some HUGE park announcements!

Magic Kingdom

Disney announced new expansions, lands, and attractions while also giving more concrete details on plans that were already being discussed. Fans went crazy with excitement at all the new things to come to both Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. But now, we’re nearing the end of 2024, about four months since we heard the news, and since then, there’s been radio silence, and we want to know more!

Disney World Resort

Luckily, we recently heard some exciting news about the announced Monsters, Inc. Land coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, when it comes to the new lands and attractions scheduled for Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom, Disney has been silent.

Villains Land

Disney announced that a Villains Land will be coming Magic Kingdom! The new land will be added to the park beyond Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

We have started to see construction here as curtains have gone up on Big Thunder so you can’t see back beyond the ride while you’re on the train. Disney also recently announced the main villains that will inspire this new land.

But other than what we’ve seen at the park or about the specific villains Disney hasn’t mentioned anything, including what rides, shops, dining, or other experiences we can expect in this new land. We’ll just keep speculating based on concept art for now!

Cars Attractions

Another announcement Disney made for Magic Kingdom was the addition of two new Cars-themed rides coming to Frontierland. These rides will be replacing Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America.

Coming to Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, a new area themed to Pixar Animation Studios’ “Cars” will leave Radiator Springs and head to the wilderness with two new attractions including an off-road race.

We know there will be a family-friendly ride and a fast-paced adventure through the mountains of the frontier. Disney also noted in August that construction for this new area will begin in early 2025. We’ve also seen a permit get filed for the drainage of Rivers of America, but apart from that Disney has been silent about any other experiences coming to this area or when we can expect Tom Sawyer Island and the Liberty Square Riverboat to close.

Tropical Americas Land

Disney officially announced that the new land that will replace DinoLand, U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom will be a Tropical Americas-themed land called Pueblo Esperanza. The new land will feature rides based on Encanto and Indiana Jones.

We know the first round of DinoLand closures will begin in January, and we’ve seen permits get filed for the construction that will begin soon. However, there are lots more details that we would love to know about this coming land!

Disneyland Resort

Over at Disneyland, Disney California Adventure is set to have two new expansions, but we haven’t heard any new details here either!

Pandora

A new Pandora is getting added to Disney California Adventure! Pandora, from the Avatar movies, is already a land at Animal Kingdom in Disney World, but now a new Pandora, inspired by Avatar: The Way of Water and other upcoming Avatar films, is coming to the Disneyland Resort.

This new land will be added on as an expansion to the park, but since its initial announcement, we have yet to hear anything else. If Pandora at Animal Kingdom is any indication of what’s to come, this new land will likely be visually stunning and lots of fun for fans of the film franchise. But unfortunately, Disney has not announced a timeline or experiences that we will get to experience. As of now, we only have the initial concept art to go off of.

Avengers Campus

Two new attractions are coming to Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure! Disney announced that the campus will be extended to make room for these incoming attractions. We recently saw plans get submitted to the City of Anaheim for the construction, the first step in the process, but there have been no new official announcements.

Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab will be getting added to the land, but we haven’t heard much more about this expansion, including a timeline for when we might get to enjoy them.

Hopefully, we’ll hear more news soon on these new attractions and lands! Disney has slowly released more information about other projects, so it’s just a matter of time before they break their silence on these.

We’ll be watching for any and all new info, so keep following AllEars for updates!

  1. The only news I want to hear is that Disney is scrapping CarsLand at the MK, and that Rivers of America will remain as is. CarsLand somewhere else…or in a 5th park…would be okay.
