Okay, there are things changing in Disney World all the time, with some pretty big changes on the way.
Over in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we’ll soon be seeing some construction as a brand-new land dedicated to Monsters, Inc. gets built. There’s even a new villains-themed show coming to the park in 2025! However, Cast Members appear to be testing one big change right now: how you enter the park could change.
When we entered Hollywood Studios this morning, we noticed something different. Hollywood Studios doesn’t open until 9AM, but guests of Disney World hotels can use Early Theme Park Entry to get into the park at 8:30AM. While we were NOT staying at a Disney World hotel, we were still allowed into the park at 8:35AM.
So before 2020, this was pretty much the standard: non-hotel guests could get into the park, but they weren’t allowed into the areas with Early Theme Park Entry. What we noticed this morning is that two lines were forming at some attractions: one for the Early Entry crowd and one for the regular rope drop crowd. At Tower of Terror, the standby line wasn’t open and hotel guests were scanning in through the Lightning Lane.
We asked a Cast Member about it and were told that Disney was testing this out just for the day. They let everyone in through the main entrance and then checked for hotel guests inside each individual land. The testing was over, though, when the park officially opened at 9AM.
So if you’re visiting Hollywood Studios soon and don’t qualify for Early Theme Park Entry, you still may be able to get into the park early (you could always do a little shopping, grab a coffee, or get lined up in front of each land for the official rope drop time).
