FIRST LOOK Inside the Newly Refurbished Rooms at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter

Disney has been busy refurbishing several of the Disney World hotel rooms.

Port Orleans French Quarter

Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Grand Floridian, and Beach Club resorts have had major updates to their rooms over the past couple of years. But it’s not just these deluxe resorts that have had refurbishments. Back in April 2024, it was announced that Port Orleans — French Quarter would be getting updated rooms. But now those updates are complete; let’s step inside one of the newly finished hotel rooms!

We are officially the first ones to stay in one of the brand new refurbished rooms at Port Orleans — French Quarter! This hotel is known for it’s New Orleans charm and yummy beignets. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort has two sections — Riverside and French Quarter. The updates have taken place so far in buildings 1 and 2 at Port Orleans — French Quarter. Building 1 opened recently and building 2 just opened on September 29th! Other rooms will be under refurbishment through November 2024.

So what do one of these newly refurbished rooms look like? Let’s check it out!

We stayed in a room with two queen beds, and the new details are beautiful. There is certainly some Southern New Orleans charm going on in these rooms. From the lights over the beds to the patterns on the walls and doors, you’ll feel like you’ve been transported to NOLA.

There is a couch with a table, an entertainment center, and television in the room for your convenience. You’ll also spot several Princess and the Frog details all around the room like the photos hanging above the couch. They’re a cute Disney touch. We especially loved the cute complimentary Hidden Mickey set of beads that were left for us on the table! We sure felt welcomed for our stay.

Seriously, look at the pattern work on this couch! It’s as gorgeous as the other New Orleans-themed patterns around the room.

The Princess and the Frog photos are a fun touch as well!

There are other fun details like these shelves, which add to the New Orleans theming!

On the counter, there is also a coffee maker with a variety of tea, coffee, creamers, and sweeteners.

Below the counter and coffee machine, there is a mini fridge for any cold beverages, snacks, or left overs from your last meal.

If we check out the bathroom, you’ll find two sinks, which is a nice amenity for getting ready on those early park mornings! That way multiple people can use the mirror and sinks at once.

Bathroom

The toilet and shower are in a separate room from the sinks, allowing someone to be cleaning up while others are using the mirror or sink. Trust us, on those early mornings, this is a great accommodation!

Shower

You’ll find Disney’s complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body was in the shower, so if you prefer not to pack your own there are some available for you when you get here!

Let’s check out some of the convenient accessories around the room! First, there are now outlets that have USB and USB-C chargers. These are great for a variety of phones, power banks, MagicBand+, and other devices.

Outlet

Every room at Disney World now has a Hey, Disney device! This is an Amazon Alexa device customized specifically for Disney (you can add on the Hey, Disney feature to your home device as well). Hey, Disney can offer you tons of assistance on your trip down to the daily bus schedule.

There is a small closet in the room if you have any garments that need to be hung up.

On either side of both beds, Disney has added small reading lights! Now your kiddos can be fast asleep while you continue to plan your next day.

You’ll also find an extra pillow and blanket along with a safe for your valuable items.

Disney did not let us down with this refurbishment! The room looks great and will be perfect for a stay at Disney World. If you’re staying at either Port Orleans resorts, you’ll find varying restaurants, amenities, and boat and bus transportation. This is a fun moderate hotel to stay at!
