“I Liked It WAY More Than I Thought I Would” — Do You Agree With Us on This Controversial Magic Kingdom Change?

Disney World has been changing quite a bit over the past few years.

Magic Kingdom

Magic Kingdom has been home to many of these changes and will soon even get two new lands. Most recently, TRON Lightcycle / Run opened in Tomorrowland last year and is now finally running a stand-by line and no longer uses Virtual Queue. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened in June after being re-imagined from Splash Mountain. The Country Bear Jamboree even changed, and that is what we are here to talk about today.

The original Country Bear Jamboree is no longer. The new show has a brand new setlist and now features the Bears singing Disney tunes. The Bears also got some much-needed love, which included wardrobe upgrades! While we are glad that Disney did not get rid of this opening day attraction, some fans are sad about the loss of the original show.

While the new show has been running for about two months now, when clips of the show were first teased, many people shared that they were not excited about the new version of the show. This is totally understandable, considering this attraction was a piece of opening day, and songs like “Blood on the Saddle” were so loved.

When Emma and Sage experienced the new show for the first time, they acknowledged the fans’ doubts, but they went into the show excited and ready to form their own opinions. They ended up leaving the show pleasantly surprised!

Emma and Sage

Emma said that she LOVED it, and it exceeded her expectations. Sage said that he liked it way more than he thought he would! Both said that they really enjoyed how the audience interacted with the show, and it made it more fun since everyone laughed and sang. They both agreed that the audience vibe is what made the show so much fun, and they both hoped that future audiences would have a good time with the show. Emma even said that she liked some of the new songs better than the original songs.

Many people have still yet to experience the new show as it has only been a few months since it opened. The moral of the story is to go into the show with an open mind because you may leave pleasantly surprised, the same way Sage and Emma did.

While we still mourn the loss of the original show, the new show is fun in its way. The change at Country Bears is also a good way to look at the changes coming to Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America. Although these parts of the park are part of the Magic Kingdom’s history, change is not always a bad thing, especially when you go into it with an open mind!

Emma is currently on a mission to do 1,000 things in Disney World in 100 days, and you can follow along with her journey on the AllEars YouTube channel!

  1. It went from one of my MK must dos to maybe if I am not hungry and it is pouring I will stop in. Maybe.

Biggest downgrade I can think of.

  2. According to Forbes, $17B or the reported $60B Disney has earmarked for parked improvements is to be used in Orlando. Also according to Forbes, Disney has applied for and received approval for three new permits. One permit is for an entirely new large park and the other two are said to be smaller water park permits. Since Disney hasn’t built a new park here in Orlando since Animal Kingdom (in 1998) at a cost of $1B, i don’t see why they feel it is necessary to decimate Frontier Land with the Cars Land. Why not just have Cars and the new Villain’s lands in the already scheduled new park. With a budget of $17B for Orlando it should be more than enough to create a new park as well as new lodging, shopping, parking and any other infrastructure needed to support the new park. I don’t understand why so called “improvements” need to come at the expense of already in place amazing classic Disney theming in The Magic Kingdom. It seems that current Disney management is trying to erase every trace of Walt Disney from his own dream. I just don’t get it and I just can’t support it.
