Rides are probably the biggest attractions at Disney World.
Yes, the food is great, the entertainment is top-tier, and we love seeing our favorite characters, but rides are certainly a HUGE draw for parkgoers. We spend hours waiting in lines for some of the best and most exciting rides in the world, and we’re not mad about it. Luckily, Disney does its best to make even the wait entertaining. However, some of that entertainment leads to stressful situations.
Disney tries to help you forget all the time you’ve spent waiting in lines for rides by providing entertainment mid-line. They have little interactive gadgets and games, but the most iconic form of Disney distraction are pre-shows.
These are little videos of characters from the ride that explain safety tips and the storyline just before you enter the area for boarding the ride vehicle. Don’t get us wrong, we’re happy that pre-shows exist because they do take our minds off our long wait, and they’re generally fun. But it’s what happens immediately after the pre-show ends that causes our hearts to race.
Right after a pre-show ends everyone scurries to find the door to exit the pre-show room. It’s the biggest funnel point of all of us trying to get to the ride first, and y’all, it is STRESSFUL. While trying to find the way out, we become full of worry!
We first begin worrying about where the rest of our family or group members are. However, if you’ve been in a lot of ride pre-shows, you may have begun holding hands, shirts, belt loops, or shoulders of everyone in your party so there’s no way anyone is going to get between you and your loved one. You will NOT get separated before rushing to meet your captors on Rise of the Resistance!
The next thing that we starting worrying about is our place in line. We waited so long to get to this point that we don’t want to end up getting pushed further back. Of course, we don’t push or shove and we’re still respectful as we make our way out of the pre-show room, but this is one of the most stressful moments of the ride.
While we’re worried about not losing our group or our place in line, we also worry about splitting other groups up. It often happens that once we get out of the room and into the queue on the other side that groups will have to work to get back together with the rest of the people in their group. This may mean letting one or two people ahead of you if the rest of their group is now in front you.
Riding the rides in Disney World is exciting, and we’re glad Disney provides entertainment to make the wait seem shorter. But we gotta say, sometimes we get a little stressed after the pre-show.
