Disney World’s newest form of transportation is also one of the most fun.
Yep, we’re talking about the Skyliner, which feels more like an attraction than a way to get around the resort. Yes, it sometimes closes, but usually not for long. However, once a year, it closes for a little longer so Disney can do maintenance on it. Well, now we know when that’s going to happen in 2024.
The Skyliner offers transportation to and from EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, and Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
The My Disney Experience app now shows that the annual Skyliner maintenance will happen fron January 16th through 21st, 2024. That means the Skyliner will be closed during that time. Disney Skyliner service from the Riviera to EPCOT will remain down until January 27th.
Alternative transportation will be provided in the form of Disney buses, but if you were counting on using the Skyliner to quickly get around Disney World, you might want to reconsider your hotel stay.
Note that the Skyliner also will close in the event of bad weather, which is why it’s important to keep an eye on the Orlando weather forecast before your trip, too, so you can be prepared for using alternate transportation options in Disney World.

Any chance that the Skyliner will not be fully reopened on Jan 28? We are arriving at Caribbean Beach resort on the 27th and planning to visit EPCOT on the 28th as a pre-cruise side trip. Obviously we are planning on using the Skyliner, and it would be a bummer if it is not open. Conversely, does the annual maintenance ever wrap up earlier than the stated date?
So disappointed. We booked a trip for January 14-19. Staying at the CB. First park day is Monday, so I guess we’ll go to EPCOT or DHS to get our one day of Skyliner. Both the pool and the Skyliner will be closed.
Our trip is to celebrate my granddaughter being in remission from kidney disease. Sigh. There’s always Mickey and Minnie to cheer us.
