Why You WON’T Want To Stay in a Disney World Hotel in 2024

2024 is fast approaching, and you may already be in the process of planning your vacation.

If you haven’t decided yet on where to stay, allow us to help. While we adore Disney’s hotels, they’re EXPENSIVE and may actually not be the best option for you and your group. Here are a few reasons why you WON’T want to stay at a Disney World Hotel in 2024.

Good Neighbor Hotels Are Just As Nice

Disney has lots of hotels right around their property that they call Good Neighbor Hotels. While these hotels aren’t owned by Disney, they’re close enough to the parks that Disney has a special agreement with them to grant Disney World guests at these resorts some of the same perks Disney resort guests get.

One of the newest hotels in the Disney Springs area is the Drury Plaza Hotel, which we’ve done a whole tour of for you! There are many different good neighbor hotels to choose from, and they all are cheaper than most Disney hotel rooms or are equivalent in price with MORE amenities (like complimentary breakfast).

Now, these hotels won’t have the Disney hotel theming you’re used to, but they do have complimentary transportation to the parks and can get you early theme park entry, which can be big perks that may make the lack of theming worth it.

Construction

Not to mention that lots of Disney World hotels will be under construction during 2024. This doesn’t mean the hotel will be unavailable, but not many guests enjoy staying at hotels that are under refurbishment.

Some of this construction is set to be completed by the latter half of the year, but others will take up the majority of the year. While Disney avoids working on hotels during normal sleeping hours to avoid disturbing guests, if you or your kiddo need to take a nap in the middle of the day, you may end up being disturbed anyway.

Prices Are Increasing

We know that ticket prices have increased for Disney World in 2024, and hotel prices tend to go up every year. And what does that mean? You’re spending MORE money staying on property.

If you choose to stay at a nearby hotel, the price of the stay may not rise as much as Disney’s could, meaning that you’ll only be paying for the price increase on the park ticket.
