We experienced some real-life Disney magic this weekend!
This weekend, the Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Josh D’Amaro visited the South by Southwest conference in Austin to share some exciting updates on the Disney parks. One of the major highlights of his presentation was showing off new technology that could make meeting the characters in the parks even more impressive. And we got the chance to interact with one of those characters up close and personal!
Currently, you can spot Tinker Bell at the Disney parks in parades, character meet-and-greets, and even soaring through the night sky ahead of the fireworks in Magic Kingdom. But soon, we might be able to interact with a LIFE SIZE (as in, pixie-sized) Tinker Bell!
During the presentation, D’Amaro showed off a unique Tinker Bell character appearance, where she’s SUPER tiny just like in Peter Pan, but still amazingly detailed and talkative.
And we got the chance to chat with the tiny Tink up close after the presentation! Here’s a peek at our conversation with the little pixie.

Similar to other interactive experiences like Turtle Talk with Crush and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, Tinker Bell is able to respond to the conversation in real-time, rather than sticking to pre-recorded responses.
According to D’Amaro, this new character interaction is currently a “blue-sky concept,” meaning it is still in the early stages of development and not yet confirmed to appear in the parks. But we’ll be on the lookout for any updates on when Tinker Bell or other tiny characters might be on their way toward making life-size appearances in Disney World, Disneyland, or elsewhere!
