In case you missed it, there have been some massive Disney announcements today!
We got news about fireworks shows, TRON Lightcycle Run, park pass reservations, Genie+, and more. Whew! However, one Disney executive is already commenting on the changes that were announced today!
On January 10th alone, we found out a closing date for Disney Enchantment in Magic Kingdom and Harmonious in EPCOT. It was then announced that Happily Ever After and EPCOT Forever would replace the 50th anniversary nighttime spectaculars.
In the afternoon, Disney gave us another teaser about TRON Lightcycle Run’s opening date…and then they announced that the ride was opening on April 4th, 2023!
Later in the afternoon, we got some big news for both Disney World and Disneyland! Take a look at all of the news below:

Wow! That is a lot of news for one day, which is what led D’Amaro to reach out to travel agents.
Josh D’Amaro, Chairperson of the Walt Disney Parks and Experiences, sent the message starting by wishing everyone a Happy New Year. He then said, “I know there has been a lot of change over the past few years” and thanked travel agents for what they do.
D’Amaro went on to talk about some of the previous announcements and today’s news by saying, “As we enter 2023, we’ll have lots of new reasons to celebrate together. TRON Lightcycle / Run at Walt Disney World along with Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, World of Color – ONE and Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland Resort are all opening this year… we’ll be celebrating Disney’s 100th anniversary … and bringing back old favorites to the parks, such as Happily Ever After and Magic Happens.”
The Disney executive is “excited about all of these changes and offers and want you to know that we are committed to listening, adapting, and staying relentlessly focused on making the guest experience at our Disney parks even better.”
Iger already started making changes in leadership when he took over as CEO in November 2022, but this is one of the biggest sets of changes since then. Bob Iger was reportedly “alarmed” by the price increases in the parks before he returned to Disney, so the changes like free PhotoPass photos and overnight parking line up with his previous thoughts.
