Bob Iger is back as CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and since the news was announced, fans and critics alike have been eager to see what might happen next.
Will he change ticket prices? Will he bring the Disney Dining Plan back, or get rid of Park Pass Reservations? Anything is possible, but even if Iger were to implement some of these changes fans are asking for, they would take time and a whole lot of work. But, there are some easy ways Bob Iger could win over Disney fans.
Many Disney fans have expressed feeling like “the magic is gone” from the parks, and are hoping newly appointed CEO Bob Iger can change that. Iger was at the helm during The Walt Disney Company’s overall success from 2005 until he stepped down in 2020, and people are eager to see if the days of yesteryear might come around again.
Of course, people are calling for lower ticket costs, changes to the Park Pass Reservation System, and more — and while those updates could take place during Iger’s two-year stint, chances are they won’t happen anytime soon. Here’s how Bob Iger could easily win over Disney fans.
Spend More Time in the Parks
When it comes to job experience, few are as qualified as Bob Iger. There have only been seven Chief Executive Officers of The Walt Disney Company, and Iger fits the bill. It’s no wonder why Disney would choose to bring him back, but fans might still need to wait and see what he can accomplish.
One easy way Iger could win fans over is by actually spending time in Disneyland and Disney World, really getting a feel for the guest experience and what it’s like from day to day. Not only that, but getting an idea of what Cast Members experience in the parks daily could help Iger be seen as an advocate.
Focus on Cast Members and Employees
Speaking of Cast Members, Iger has already held one employee town hall meeting for those who work for The Walt Disney Company. This type of initiative to show employees that Iger is aware of their questions and concerns and wants to do something about it might show fans that Iger truly cares about employees.
After all, Cast Members are responsible for most (if not all) of the Disney magic we experience when we’re in the parks, and whoever the leader of the company is should respect that. Holding regular meetings where employees can ask questions and focusing on Cast Member morale could be an easy way for Iger to win fans over.
Bring Back the Magic
Many Disney fans have remarked that “the magic is gone” from the parks, and are looking for Iger to change that. They want someone who has an understanding of Walt Disney’s original vision.
His original idea for Disneyland was a place where parents and kids could have fun together, and would “encompass the essence of the things that were good and true in American life.” How Iger could do this is anyone’s guess, but many fans are hoping it will come in the form of lower ticket prices (not an easy task and also unlikely) and a focus on the overall guest experience.
Be a Disney Fan
Being Disney fans is what unites us and makes The Walt Disney Company what it is — and many want the leader of the company to be just as obsessed with the Mouse as they are. This goes along with being able to focus on the “Disney magic,” but Iger has typically expressed his excitement about various projects Disney has worked on.
Hopefully, this is something that we could see continue over the next two years. Understanding what it means to be a Disney fan could help Iger see things from a different perspective, and get fans on his side while he’s at it.
Annual Passholder Appreciation
Disney World Annual Passholders and Disneyland Magic Key Holders are some of the most dedicated fans around. After all, those passes don’t come cheap and visiting the parks frequently is something that most passholders don’t take for granted. But in recent years, a focus has shifted to the regular theme park guest, and passholders have felt the cold shoulder.
To win passholders back, Iger could come up with some sort of passholder appreciation or incentive to show those dedicated fans that their presence is really appreciated in the parks, even if they don’t spend as much money as a theme park ticket holder.
Whatever Iger’s next steps will be, we’re eager to see how the future of The Walt Disney Company takes shape over the next two year. We’ll be keeping up with it all and will let you know about the important news.
